deathchrist2000 asked: How old are the Ducks compared to one another?
I don’t think there’s any official data on it (i did make a headcanon post before but I can’t find it lmao) but I think HDL are 6/7, Donald/Gladstone/Fethry/Daisy are in their early 30′s (Fethry= 30, Gladdy= 33, Don= 34?), Gus is like 35 to 40? Jose and Panchito same. Magica is 40 (bc it feels right fight me she’s just Really Tired), Scrooge is ??? 80 going on infinite and Grandma Duck is too powerful she cannot die
but like. who even knows man it’s Didney also birds age super weird compared to mammals for real they got that mad mitochondria magic going on
it’s a mixture of canons and my own take on it- this from the Disney Wiki entry on Gladstone;
- while no duck canon is ever truly solid (there’s just that much of it that conflicts!) it just made sense to me to blend these options. As Don Rosa’s more recent family tree is generally accepted as canon (especially as it is used in the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck), I decided to keep his canon that Goostave and Daphne are Gladstone’s true parents along with adhering to the visual he gave them. It made sense, however, that Gladstone’s parents are no longer part of the scene, as they never appear in any stories outside of the past. I also felt that this sort of tragedy fitted with the psychology of Gladstone, and explained in part why he didn’t know about the Triple Distelfink for a long time.
For those asking about why I made Goostave the way I did (and being very complimentary! thank you?! glad you all love him too), there’s literally only one picture of him and that’s the grouchy portrait in Don Rosa’s family tree poster so I was like, do I go the bad-grumpy-too-stern-dad angst route? but I decided against that because a) Daphne’s luck would prevent her from marrying a total grump and b) wouldn’t it be nice to tie in how Gladstone is like both his parents by making one of them grouchy on the outside but soft on the inside?
This ‘white balloon’ story will eventually be followed up by another about Gladstone’s childhood after this event, where he went and how Ludwig Von Drake became a significant figure in his life. :Tb
I am having a lovely day, and sure! Although I wouldn’t call it a problem, I don’t mind. It happens once in a while, but my body is actually fairly, uh, well, rounded… so on the whole it’s usually people who see photographs of my face online who mistake me for a guy.
Having said that there was this one little old lady a while back who tapped me on the shoulder and said “Excuse me, son-” before turning bright red when I turned around, but again, she was the only one of us who was embarrassed about it. I thought it was pretty hilarious.
The thing is I really don’t give a crap about my gender so it’s really pretty hard to be offended by that sort of stuff, mostly I think it’s kind of sweet :>
I would not, but then I’ve always had terrible difficulty in knowing where the boundaries between confidence and arrogance lie, so I suppose I simply trained myself not to approach one in fear of wandering into the other.
On the other hand I think cheerfully haphazard is one of the most delightfully accurate descriptions of me that I’ve ever read.
Nnnnnnn I’m too much of a coward to do the donation button thing and I’d feel guilty and I’m scared of anything even vaguely related to bureaucracy and urgh.
