Robert Sherman appreciation post - my favorite scene from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Truly and Caractacus’ duet is pure love. <3
Funny fact: as a kid, I honest-to-God had no idea Dick Van Dyke was on strings for this sequence. I just thought he was that awesome.
I never saw this movie until I was about twenty when we we went to Florida, and holy crap I did not know how to react. It’s so twee and sugary and the child catcher is the biggest creeper out of creepsville and what is the deal with that King I mean wat. It was amazing. I think I contracted diabeetus and a life-long phobia of children singing duets.
HOWEVER, I really do love this song. I also adore anything playing with the idea of animate ragdolls/scarecrows so there you go :> up on the dash it goes.

Well this is one of the most fun things I’ve ever heard/seen.
From the Open University: “ Voiced by Clive Anderson, this entertaining romp through ‘The History of English’ squeezes 1600 years of history into 10 one-minute bites”
Brilliant stuff, and also draws to attention the singularly vital fact that KATE BEATON HAS A TUMBLR ACCOUNT why did I not know this before now?!
