Oh gosh, can I just take a moment to be soppy? Because I only realized the other day that I have over 1000 followers now, and I just… I love you.
I love all of you so much. I love it when you tell me about yourself and your stories, and I love you when you’re anonymously kind, and I love you when you’re too shy to say anything to me at all but you still always reblog or click that like button or even just smile when you see my work. If it wasn’t for you people I wouldn’t have any reason to- well, anything.
So thank you; thank you for putting up with me obsessing over silent movies and animation and drawing robots too much and not updating the comic fast enough and swearing and telling you boring things about my life that you don’t need to know and being hopelessly British and nerdy and random and insecure and emotionally dependent on you and just-

I was relieved when Stephen Fry and I drew with 50% of the Anglophenia vote each. There, I thought. That’s the way to do it. Honour is satisfied, and I do not have to apologise to anyone, or worry or ever think about this thing again.

Neil Gaiman famously posted on his Tumblr that he didn’t stand a chance against Stephen Fry in their Round 1 battle. But the novelist triumphed over his “national treasure” opponent – by ONE vote. (There were more lead changes in this matchup than in Bush/Gore.) This could be a case of “out of the frying pan and into the fire,” as Gaiman now faces last year’s champion Alan Rickman (who beat Gary Oldman in Round 1).
