By popular demand, here it is! Toonkind v1.0, ready for the show.

If anyone out there actually goes and tests it out, let me know! I’d love to hear feedback, both for what needs tweaking and just for what shenanigans you get into.

I have some questions/feedback!

- What stats are used for the spell saves for Hideous Laughter and Enthrall?

- For Hammerspace, can they store an unlimited number for 3ft³ objects, or is the entire space 3ft³? If not, what is the max dimensions, and total weight limit?

- I assume from the size that they’re Medium sized but it would be nice to call it out.

- Having Alignment on there would be nice as well, as per most (if not all) racial descriptions.

- Blink at 3rd character level seems a bit overpowered. You typically don’t get 3rd level spells until 5th character level. I would also have all three subraces get their spell at 3rd level, similar to how Aasimar (and a lot of other!) subraces work.

- To replace Blink, you could consider Blur, Magic Mouth, or Rope Trick to keep in theme. Those are all 2nd level spells.

- Silent Image is okay, it’s 1st level and you could keep it. But if you wanted to bring it up to 2nd level to be consistent, Alter Self or Mirror Image could be thematic.

- Hideous Laughter and Enthrall are both WIS saving throws.

-The whole space is 3ft³. They can store a whole bunch of small objects, or one big anvil, whatever. Naturally, it all still needs to be marked down in Inventory, no making up objects out of nowhere.

-While the majority of the race is Medium, I wanted to leave it a little more open for anyone who wants to go a little wilder with their design. There’s always Tweety Birds and Speedy Gonzales, after all.

-I wasn’t sure if it was necessary to include if they didn’t have a particular alignment, but I’ll make sure to include it in later updates.

-Yeah, I wasn’t entirely sure about that. Spell levels vs. character levels has always been weird for me to figure out.

-I’d like to keep the teleportation effect in here, as reference to how cartoon characters can just show up in places out of nowhere. Misty Step would probably be the best trade-out.

-Silent Image is too thematic to the idea to drop; it’s lower level, which is why i gave it more uses per day than the other, higher-level spells.

Thanks for the feedback, I really do appreciate it. I’m far from the most informed about the nitty gritty of mechanics, and I’ll be sure to tweak things in a future version.

GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOD GOOD

Despite their extraplanar origins, the Toonkind are a kind and empathetic race. They come with a nigh-boundless energy, and if they cannot find excitement they may be compelled to make some of their own, earning them a reputation as troublemakers. Thankfully their charm and agility helps them wheedle their way out of most any problem they make.

Toonkind have a +1 to Dexterity and Charisma modifiers, and a -1 to Strength and Wisdom. They have a natural resistance to bludgeoning damage.

This highly adaptable race can come in all manner of shapes and sizes, from near-human to animalistic. Most often they stand under five feet in height, but many Toons have been known to stretch up to eight feet tall. They reach maturity by the age of five, but no one has yet confirmed how old a toon can live to be.

Hammerspace: due to their less-than-hardy natures, all Toonkind have access to a personal pocket dimension in which they can store personal belongings, no more than three cubic feet in size. It’s a fickle magic, however, and objects may not always come out when desired; players roll percentage upon accessing the hammerspace, with a 10% chance that they pull out the wrong object. If this happens, subsequent tries will increase to a 50% likelihood of the mishap, until the desired item is found.

Left at Albequerque: Toonkind believe greatly in the powers of fate, and trust that the forces that guide them will put them precisely where they need to be for the greatest entertainment. Toons can cast Blink, allowing them to pop up in some of the most unexpected situations.

i tried to come up with more game-ified toon traits but it’s 2am and the point is you better believe i am serious about this

Bless you
