Part one! This was a really fun way to draw this comic, I will very likely use the same method in the future! Thanks for always waiting so patiently for this and all my other art stuff. Open in new tabs for best reading experience.
oh dear bless what a gorgeous comic, the fun interaction, the hardheadedness, the SURPRISE! as always storytelling is charming (and rather original! how fun!) I love how when Magica and Gladstone are running away from the avalanche they criss-cross paths~
i adore this colour palette and the masterful use of it, no less! the darks the lights and the WOW IS IT SOFT LOOKING?! i don’t know what kind of filter or brush you used (especially on some of those dark backgrounds) but it really adds to such a quiet atmosphere, gives it such a nice bit of texture i MEAN SERIOUSLY THIS IS AN INSPIRATIONAL AUTHOR RIGHT HERE aaah it’s such a feast for my eyes! there’s so much I wanna study here! but I really love the winter wear and well – I really couldn’t resist it myself
Modmad you make such great stuff, thank you!
reblogging my own stuff ‘cause LOOKITTHISCUTEPICTURE AAAAAAAA
THANK YOU will try to have part 2 done later today! <3
since a whole bunch of you are threatening to do covers I fixed those lyrics so they work much better now! So… yeah, if you’re gonna sing it please consider using these words instead, they’re a little more worked over than the oh-shit-I-have-to-remember-a-song-from-a-dream-I-had-last-night version
and feel free to fix that goddawful melody I came up with PLEASE
My logic behind this is that her behaviour is (would be?) so very like chaotic characters like Discord and Mad Mod, who’s personal details you only get told about in fragments, or not at all. If she were to appear in the cartoon (and I were writing the episode) it would be precisely like that. Crazy fun times and explosions, a lorry load of puns, some considerable amount of ripping reality to pieces and breaking the forth wall and that’s that.
In writing you always have to think about balance. You have to have comedy, you have to have tragedy. You have to have fast paced action, and you need time to contemplate. You have to have information, and then you have to have the freedom to imagine. There would be exposition episodes and characters who would get a full backstory and sad stories to contrast the comedy, but then there would have to be room for speculation with others.
Perhaps eventually she would get one of those oh-god-my-heartstrings-why episodes in the second or third series (Adventure Time didn’t exactly start off with us knowing the Ice King’s origin from day one), but I figure this way you lot can have as much fun writing theories and ficlets as you jolly well please, and I can sit comfortably in the knowledge that Mod would and always will be a complete grade-A nutcase.
Because some of you have been asking what the Mod destroying everything deal is uh oh okay so;
Once upon a geekdom there was an ancient, roleplaying civilisation called XIrpg, which was basically short for “Xavier’s Institute for every-single-character-in-the-universe-and-then-some-is-a-mutant people let’s write some shit”.
