Cleaning the oceans one step at a time

Two Australians created this container that collects plastic, paper, oil, fuel and detergent floating in the ocean. They want to implement it the middle of next year to clean up the sea worldwide. It seems a great idea. The only “but” as always is money, so they are raising funds to get to their goal. You can see their project and donations here.

Fucking genius!

Boost!!👏🏾

There’s only 9 days left and they aren’t even 35% funded. Boost and help them out!

Hey guys,

I made myself a Redbubble Store and updated the Society6 Store that I haven’t touched in a million years since I thought it’d be cool to do…?

Main thing would be regular prints and phone cases, but there’s other things like pillows, cards, clocks, clothes, journals, laptop designs, etc.

My main designs are likely just going to be original geometric patterns (because I have a huge..passion for that type of aesthetic, thanks to hexeosis who makes fresh cool designs and inspired me) and environmental concept painting type dealios. So yeah. If you guys wanna see any sort of specific thing from me in the future on these platforms though, I’m all ears!

Several people have asked me for prints of certain art pieces before (but I’m too busy to individually ship stuff out.) I will probably update it every now and then with a new design, or an older piece that was requested in the past.

Society6 might be a better option for quality because I had a little more control over specific sizes on specific products.. but…. not sure, I’m pretty new to all this anyway.

If you like any of this stuff, or know someone that might, a signal boost would be appreciated.

ATTENTION CURRENT ART STUDENTS: Round up 8 of your best cartooning samples and send them in to the National Cartoonists Society Foundation for your chance to win $5000 as well as an all-expense paid trip to the NCS’s Reuben Awards!

The deadline for the Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship is DECEMBER 15th (postmarked).

More info can be seen here: http://cartoonistfoundation.reuben.org/jay-kennedy/

I won this award back when I was in school and it was amazing. Not only is getting a $5000 check while you’re in college a life-saver but attending the Reuben Awards is an amazing experience. The Reuben Awards are like the Emmys of the comic strip world. Attending the awards myself, I’ve had the honor to meet some incredible giants of industry like Joe Kubert, Stan Goldberg, Glen Keane, Eric Goldberg, Russ Heath, Al Jaffee, Tom Richmond, Jeannie Schulz, Sergio Aragones, Bill Amend, Cathy Guisewite, Patrick McDonnell, and many many more.

What a great opportunity for students! GET AT IT PEOPLE!

Dragon’s Lair: The Movie has another chance!

bluedragonkaiser:

Alright listen up Don Bluth and 2D Animation fans! So if you haven’t heard the Dragon’s Lair Movie Kickstarter got cancelled today because of lack of funding. However there’s still another chance for the movie to be made as an email was sent out this morning to backers of the Kickstarter:

image

I sort of predicted something like this would happen after watching Nostalgia Critic’s new video about commercials where Don Bluth made a guest appearance. I’m still not sure what that is going to lead to, but that’s besides the point. We have another chance to help make the movie happen but this in fact could be our VERY LAST chance! According to this email Don and Gary are going to do this Indiegogo campaign differently than the Kickstarter in order to reach a wider audience. Whether it’s finally taking to social media or revealing more about the movie, just know that they’re making an effort to make this campaign more effective than the Kickstarter.

In return we as fans need to do the same thing. Contact every animation blog you follow and let them know about this. Tell them to spread the word that Don Bluth is looking to bring 2D hand-drawn animation back to theatres in the form of Dragon’s Lair: The Movie. Do your part on social media and help spread the word. The new Indiegogo campaign launches next Tuesday. Many people on this site say they want hand-drawn animation back but don’t know how expensive it is.

image

Big name companies don’t see hand-drawn animation as profitable as it used to be and that people don’t have an interest for it anymore. Therefore they turn to CGI or Flash instead to save money, but the truth it 2D animation can tell just as good of a story as CGI or Flash can. That’s why many projects that use 2D hand-drawn animation like Lab Zero Games’ video game @indivisiblerpg and James Lopez’s (creator of The Lion King, Princess and the Frog, The Emperor’s New Groove, and Paperman) new film Hullabaloo have to take to crowdfunding to in order to show that people DO still have an interest in 2D hand-drawn animation and are willing to help bring projects that use it to life. Hullabaloo in particular made 588% of its funding goal because people wanted hand-drawn animation to come back.

When the Indigogo campaign launches next Tuesday spread the word like wildfire! We need to show Don Bluth the same love we’ve showed to Hullabaloo and are currently showing to Indivisible. As I said this may be our last chance to get this project made and bring 2D hand-drawn animation back to theatres!

For any lesbian, gay, bi, transgender folks alone for the holidays…

transphysics:

transphysics:

http://www.yourholidaymom.com/ is a blog run by a bunch of moms (and sometimes other parents) who will post a letter to you daily until Christmas with words of acceptance and welcome.  It was designed specifically as a project for kids and adults who face rejection over the holidays because of their sexuality or gender.  This meant a lot to me the first year that I was isolated by my family, and I wanted to share it with all of you.

Hi, all!  It’s drawing close to the holiday season again, so I wanted to bring this around again!  <3

Hey Wanderers, WOY’s still performing fairly weak on iTunes. #1 was the first part of Adventure Time’s Stakes, which aired right before this episode did. Most of the things above Black Cube/Matchmaker are stuff that’s been out for a week or more (like Weirdmaggedon). (This screen cap was taken around midnight, a little over 24 hours after this episode aired).

If you don’t watch WOY legally, you can’t complain if it doesn’t get another season.

It’s also a bit more important to support it legally (preferably throwing money at it) cause WOY just doesn’t have the popularity of Adventure Time, Steven Universe and Gravity Falls. SU and Rick & Morty got a lot more popular in their 2nd seasons, but that’s yet to happen with WOY. There’s also virtually no other way to support it financially.

Reminder that WOY is about 2/3rds done with its 2nd season. Whether or not the show gets another season will most likely be decided before this season ends (as was the case with its first season and with Motorcity). So it’s better to probably buy episodes (through iTunes or Amazon) sooner rather than later cause I think whether or not it’s getting renewed for a 3rd season is coming up soon. I think if more people just bought at least ONE that’d help.

And I’d like for that 3rd season to happen so all those ideas McCracken wants to do (Hater’s backstory, other female villain) can get made.

And here’s my part:

image

If you’re like me, you probably aren’t a fan of having to pay $28.99 for half the episodes in a season. But listen. How many other ways are there to throw your money at this show? Let me tell you, there really isn’t. There’s no DVDs, there’s no merch and Disney has yet to show interest in giving us either. But guess what! Disney pays attention to itunes sales! This kind of thing matters! If you can’t afford a season pass, episodes are only $2.99 each. Not so bad, right? Especially if it’s the only Wander related thing Disney’s giving us. A LOT of work (and ESPECIALLY money) goes into making this show and this is currently the best way to show your support! If $2.99 is all you can give, then give it! It makes a difference!

If you’re going to support Indivisible by donating at the very end…

skullboysfinale:

Please consider donating BEFORE this Wednesday. Lab Zero is considering to extend the deadline, so that will dramatically increase their chance of success! They’re at $729k as of now, and they need to reach $900k before Wednesday to submit a time extension to IndieGoGo, so please help us now!
