repeatedly getting asked how to draw the ducks’ beaks and the truth is I’m still learning how to do it myself! these are some notes I made to help myself though so maybe you’ll be able to understand them???
I imagine the cartoon beaks to be very flexible but kind of ‘meaty’, like pliable leather or fabric stretched over a strong but bendy plastic/wire/foam structure
just a head’s up that I’m sick so I won’t be able to make much of anything new- I’ll try really hard to update TPoH on time but please forgive me if it’s late ;__;
anyway here’s a concept sketch from the Sorceress’s Apprentice when I was brain storming- in this version Magica had a secret library carved out of the volcano underneath her hut which she shows Gladstone when he finishes tidying/shows an interest in studying. Cut the idea because it was derailing the story and felt like I was toying with the canon too much :S
Part two of two! Honestly this was a really great exercise in posing, I had a great time drawing it. Thanks again for all the swell comments and hilarious tags you guys always make my day! <3
Part one here! (p.s. the tango music I was thinking of was this beauty)
hahaha wow I didn’t have time to be doing this please send help
Part one of two! Part two is over here! :D
(and since I seem to still be picking up new folks if you want to know who Matilda is/how the heck I fell into this ship go read this and then maybe this too yeah)
anon asking about how I start drawing doodle comics/what I count as a doodle comic- basically they’re comics which I try not to ‘go over’, so most of the drawings are a one shot and are almost never clean. First thing after roughly sketching the whole caboodle and typing in the dialogue is drawing the incidental characters and establishing shots; places and people that show up in the background a few times to keep the story grounded. I can largely do these left handed too, so it means I save my right (more dominant) hand for the main cast. I also always try to keep in mind that my last drawings will be better than my first, so as dire as the temptation to start with them is I try to leave the ‘best’ character drawings until last.
I also cheat like the devil to avoid doing any massive time-taking proper perspective because I’m awful.
