potential TPoH spoilers in theses! don’t read if you’re not up to date folks
I always have people asking if I write a script for TPoH ahead of time and the answer is… sort of. I have this car crash of a ‘gist list’ for the whole story written out, and these are parts that you’ll recognise if you’ve read the comic. As you can see it’s very informal and in fact some of these events happen in a different order from what’s written down here, but that’s because I like to keep the spontaneity of the comic hopping by almost avoiding planning as much as i can. I thumbnail the visuals of each chapter in advance, but I stop when I’ve done the chapter because I know I will keep improving as I go and I don’t want to trap myself with old work, which maybe sounds dumb but hey it’s worked for the past 6-7 years. it also avoids me getting bored/frustrated with not having reached a bit, rather it makes me look forward to reaching it even more! anyway I still can’t draw but I figure this might give you a giggle and a bit of an insight into my very bizarre writing process.
also don’t take all the things written here too seriously/deeply bc I mayyy have changed some concepts around/thought of a better thing between writing this and getting to that actual bit in the story :Tb
still recovering from travel/hand injury but I have folks asking for advice on expressions a lot so here’s an old patreon early xmas present for you folks! (I make things like this for the 20 dollar tier by request, so if you’d like more…)
as ever this is just stuff I do/have observed and there’s no real right or wrong way of doing things! just get out there and observe, draw, make mistakes, learn from them and do it again! and again, and again…
New short prose story up on my website! at first I thought I’d illustrate it like the square tales, but then I realised this one is probably better if you imagine what the things look like. so, that saves some time.
Anonymous asked: I love your duck comics! can I translate some of them for my friends? I would credit and link to your originals of course!
absolutely! there’s nothing I like better than making stories more accessible- same goes to any of you, if you want to translate these fan comics into any language, please do so! as long as you link to the original and credit me (and perhaps make mention that they are not official comics! although that should be obvious…) and as long as you’re like, Not gonna try to make a profit off them ‘cause that would cause a whole heap of Disney Copyright Issues yikes
ANYWAY basically I’m always very happy for these doodle comics, or indeed any of my stories, to reach new and different audiences- and if you do translate it and post it online please send me a link so I can reblog it, I like seeing what languages are happenin out there :D
oh and Hey So I Was Wondering you know that story I’ve been writing called Ethel? Would you guys be interested in like, idk, buying it as a book? Because if so I might just continue to write and not update it on the website- so the chapters that are up would be like a taster example and I can work up to finishing the book and selling it like Vol 1 of TPoH. I don’t know if I could get it published (zero luck with that so far with my other stuff) but I might be able to print it myself and sell it via etsy/go the Amazon route, but I don’t think publishers like it if all the writing is already available online… I’ve not tried to self publish/publish plain prose before so I guess it might be different/easier than comic work? Just a thought?
Some of you might remember that I started writing a story called Ethel a long time ago- a story which wandered off somewhere and left me, for a while, but by some miracle of being intensely ill for the past couple of days it has, sort of, come back to me! So I have written a new bit of it and put up the other two to read and you can find them here;
