I use aquacolor facepaint, a medium-large flat brush for the large areas and a small chisel tipped brush for the details. Really I ought to get a decent sponge for the base layer but I only started last weekend so go figure.
As for how long, I have NO idea, only that it’s too long to be stood up the whole time. I need to get a standing mirror to put on my desk. I had to use the bathroom one and my feet were screaming bloody murder afterwards.
