so I just got this in the mail???? thank you whoever sent it (presumably on Gladstone’s behalf with that signature. I mean. He wouldn’t go to the effort of walking to a postoffice, probably) this is a really sweet thing to receive and I’ll find somewhere for that GIANT ORIGAMI 4-LEAF CLOVER to live fbghfnfd
still recovering from travel/hand injury but I have folks asking for advice on expressions a lot so here’s an old patreon early xmas present for you folks! (I make things like this for the 20 dollar tier by request, so if you’d like more…)
as ever this is just stuff I do/have observed and there’s no real right or wrong way of doing things! just get out there and observe, draw, make mistakes, learn from them and do it again! and again, and again…
I like to imagine that she was this calm, kind, outgoing and joyful person but was also rather dreamy and disorganised- like a cross between Luna Lovegood and Phoebe from F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
Anonymous asked: Hey there, I’m an artist who has completely lost their motivation. Do you have days like that and what do you do to find your motivation again?
YES I DO and sometimes it takes a day off- take some time to do something totally different to reset your brain, read some books, watch some movies, play some games- but sometimes the best solution is simply to work through it; pick up a pencil, and draw. it doesn’t matter what! it can be studies of things that you feel you’re weak at drawing, it can be simple geometric shapes, but just DO some drawings and then half the fight is over. Starting your work process is actually the hardest part, once you’ve climbed over that wall you can start boxing yourself into doing more and more ‘constructive’ work. Motivation is fickle, too, you can’t just sit around and wait for inspiration or expect it be there continuously- some days it pounces on you at 3am and won’t let go, but some days you have to hunt it down and beat it over the head with a stick before it’ll have anything to do with you! just keep your chin up, ask for help and support when you feel you need it, and goddamn remember to drink that tea before it goes cold.
Anonymous asked: I'm actually really glad that you stop working when you're in pain... Everywhere all I see for artists is just "work through it", be it pain or art block or whatever. It's nice to be reminded that I'm still more important than what I create. :)
I’m sorry I don’t do it very well- I have had to stop again because while on the whole I’ve been improving it’s a slow process, and apparently what little I was doing was still enough to upset my hands! I am just working on TPoH now, and only very slowly at that, until I’m more sure of what my hands are able to do- but yes! It’s hard to remember sometimes, but we have to look after ourselves or else we won’t be able to make what we love!
fused all the anons for convenience and damnit I had to try and draw it after all this feedback. but I hope you can forgive me for abbreviating it to this one bit I can’t be doing a whole episode yikes
(…also this turned into kind of a mini reflection of my own history of going through hating my curly hair and then learning to accept and like it whoops projection much)
so as some of you know I’m making a page for the duck doodle comics for my personal website, and it’s come with quite a selection of interesting problems
as well as having to write a this-is-just-fanart-for-fun disclaimer so Disney has no excuse for trying to sue my penniless behind I realised that a lot of the comics refer to A Gal For Gladstone- and as I can’t exactly post the original comic or link to it on a personal portfolio type site I ended up making a couple of picture-book style pages to summarise the story. I might tweak things but I figured you guys might appreciate having them here too :D
(Masterpost of the doodle comics I’ve made over here)
