folks asking what my hair colour is rn and it’s… really hard to photograph?! it’s like neon marker colour at the tips and yellow at the base bc I bleached it then just lightly covered a plastic glove with this wild pink/orange on it and ran it over the surface to dye the ends and it’s sort of turned out hilarious and I added bits of purple to make it even more muppetty so yea I like it
the-bug-witch asked: I'm about 90% certain you've answered this question before, but I couldn't find the post, but how do you dye your hair, and how long does it last for you?
here you go! mine lasts a long time, going through into pastel shades over quite a number of weeks, but that depends on the colour you dye it and how well your hair takes the dye
stellar-owl asked: hey mod, is there any particular thing you do to keep your hair healthy (or at least not falling apart) after so many bleach/dyes? I want to make my hair a weird color but I'm nervous about the maintenance part. :0 also, your art is wonderful and so are you!
Well for a start I use Manic Panic which is a henna-based dye, which is super nice to your hair and you can leave it on for hours! I leave mine on for like, five hours, because it makes it last much longer (also I am crazy). I also let my hair dry naturally, I basically never use a hair dryer or straighteners, and be generous with the conditioner- especially for the first few weeks after bleaching. Basically, be as nice to your hair as possible and leave it alone when you can :”D Thanks for the kind words buddy I will try my best to keep improving!
I think one of the most lovely and unexpected things that has happened since dying my hair bright colours is that the people who give me compliments about it in public are almost always the kind of people who, before I did, I would never have expected to approve of it or say that sort of thing. Like the 85 years old lady on the metro I sat next to, the traffic warden who I was walking past on the street, the very strict teacher I was always afraid of at school who I met in the super market; it’s really eye opening and has made me rethink my own prejudices about peoples taste.
