“Look up there, Ludwig! It’s a shooting star!”

“Hmm…no, that’s a small-sized comet, sling-shot on its way after rotating around the sun.”

To the anon who requested Ludwig pictures last week: I found a story with him and Gladdy

meiloorun-notthefruit asked: Have there been any instances where people have kidnapped Gladstone to study his luck? Because people use him for his luck so it also makes sense for people to actually try and actively find why his luck works. Are there any comics with something like that?

great idea for stories isn’t it? alas the only one I know of is one I’ve never read- I believe @sarroora posted an image from it a looong while back, a mad scientist somehow extracted Gladstone’s luck from him? I can’t find it but the panel showed him looking kinda dazed being rescued by Daisy and Donald with his luck as a green liquid in a little glass vial- HA NVM I FOUND IT it’s this one;

if anyone knows the code I’d be grateful!

Hey, consider Ludwig Von Drake studying, analyzing, and memorizing every single myth and legend about Fortune, fate, and luck he comes across. Imagine him trying to find scientific basis for all of them, and his frustration when he failed to find it…

Picture him trying to explain the unexplainable, and devouring not only mythology books, but alchemy and magic books as well. He studies hexes, curses, and “birth gifts” like the ones sleeping beauty received on her own tale.

He would study all of that with his unpaired mind, but even then, he would not be able to explain his golden boy…he resisted the impulse to study the kid himself.

At the end, he realized that Gladstone was not to be study or explain, but to be loved.

And all was better from then on.

These sketches are inspired by the comic A Gal for Gladstone, and to highlight the incredible artist called modmad here on tumblr. Modmad is an amazing artist who brings these two characters to life in her own comics. I just felt so inspired that I wanted to draw them to. So here they are.

aw shucks! also I love how you did Magica’s hair!

in a follow-up to the last time i posted abt gladstone dressed up as paperinik, in this one, gladstone accidentally ends up with donald’s luggage and puts on the costume (because of course he does) and the zipper gets stuck and he ends up getting rocketed through town by boots he doesn’t know how to stop and getting caught up in carious super hero shenanigans where he is his incompetent, useless, and ultimately loveable self

Anonymous asked: so I know all duck timeline stuff is chaos bc there are a thousand artists and stories with different ideas but... what do you think Gladstone's childhood timeline is? like, according to this adorable-but-sad moving in with Matilda/Ludwig idea and all? give us the Dark Mod Headcanon Lore

gjadhgk I kinda dug a hole for myself there didn’t I uh well keeping in mind I am making this up literally as I’m about to hit the hay and am not versed in every comic to have ever been made the rough timeline I have is:

just something interesting I noticed while researching how to draw Ludwig: alongside both being relatively dapper and self assured, something unique that he and Gladstone have in common design-wise is that they are the only members of the duck family who habitually have straight legs! All the other ducks tend to have bent knees in their default posing- not to say they don’t have straight legs on occasion, but it’s particularly noticeable as a habit with these two!

there’s been mention in the tags of how these two (on the rare occasions they appear together in the comics) are really good friends and I love that?

also imagine if after his parents, uh, ‘left’ Gladstone did move to Scotland with aunt Matilda and this dapper confident clever European relative came over to visit just when he needed a role model…
