RE: that last doodle comic I got some confession/admitting to do for you and myself and these tags someone made really nailed it and I feel embarrassed but
The truth is the first pass of the story had the villain actually just wanting to destroy all magical animals because he was a purist scientist- He was putting logic before everything else and the fact that magical creatures just don’t fit in with the scientific logic of their world really annoyed him and he just wanted to get rid of them to balance the equation. He kept referring to them as ‘pollutants in the genetic field’ and ‘anomalies that nobody wants’ and such, which actually fits better with the whole ending part about purity.
I am not sure when or why I started to change that aspect of his motivation exactly but I think I was just so hurt and angry about Current events and that it kind of blind-sighted me and I wanted to make it more relevant to the whole Brexiteer/billionaire playing with lives for pure profit and ‘fun’. He’s bored and does it just because he can and doesn’t care about or understand the repercussions of it- which in hindsight would have led to a very different story if it was the Big Deal of the narrative. I think I was also worried at this point that I being way too heavy-handed with the underlying message.
This all kind of got lost somehow, perhaps because I was so busy and increasingly in pain, and realising this now is very much after-the-fact so it doesn’t benefit anyone. At this point I don’t know if I can be Bothered going back and changing the script back to what it was originally, I certainly can’t right now because my hands are way too sore. Whether I do or not though, I was already planning on bringing Leo back as a character who now has a real burning passionate Hatred of magic and of Magica herself, so hopefully you’ll get a future story with more of that angle which gives her more stardom? but yeah I think this is just a shortcoming of myself as a writer- my tendency to let the story push me around and be fluid during the process can sometimes work against me in this way because things the pop into my head during production that don’t actually jell with the original vision. My emotions sometimes jump in the middle and mess things up a bit, when I should be more focused!
Anyway, Yeah that’s basically what I wanted to say- and if at some point you go back to read it and the script has changed to be more about this, that’s why!
EDIT EDIT EDIT UPDATE one of my Consultant Friends just hmu on this and pointed out that I dodged a big white Stupidity Bullet here because, while it wouldn’t have been the intention, people might have thought I was comparing magical creatures (i.e. exotic animals) to minorities and like WOW YIKES NO. That’s. Really Not Cool and wasn’t AT ALL the intent of the thing I didn’t do anyway BUT HEY UH, MAYBE EVERYTHING WORKED OUT FOR THE BEST.

this is a thing I keep having to address but basically dumblr keeps deleting things for no reason without telling me about it and frankly I cannot be bothered keeping track or trying to fix it HOWEVER-

oh for heck’s sake okay so listen folks apparently this ‘review flagged posts’ feature is being rolled out by tumblr? but it’s real slow and I don’t know when my blog is going to get it SO until it hits imma just say read the doodle comics on my website- it’s better anyway bc you get to see everything full sized and you don’t have to have it in three post instalments due to the ten image limit tumblr has :Tb hopefully I’ll be able to fix this but I really can’t be bothered fighting the system when the system is broken so badly atm

I’ve thought about it but I basically write/draw the doodle comics that come from nowhere and grab my brain and won’t let go until I make them- if one of them happens to involve Paperinik, yes! Sure! But at the moment I don’t have any that do, and I’m much much less familiar with that incarnation of the duckverse (see under: limited number of stories that have been translated into English), so I’d want to be fully informed before I did that.

aw gosh, thank you! I’m so glad you feel that way- also sort of, but it’s not a set thing! I just like the idea that some species which we recognise as native to certain countries are more commonplace there in the duckverse. I think dogs and pigs and ducks are pretty universal, but why limit it to that? Jose being a parrot from Brazil is so fitting; I just really like the idea that you might come across Tiger folk in India, Zebras and Antelopes from Africa, perhaps more Roosters than usual in France etc. It strikes me as an opportunity to make the world feel a bit more varied and fun!

people asking how I do the blob/sketch thing- honestly a lot of them time I go straight in with the blobs to form the masses and line of action, but sometimes like with this doodle comic I need a rough guide for the composition or very particular face angles/expressions. I turn the sketch riiiight down though so I can only just see it, because I want the picture to be pretty much organically fed by the tones and forms I’m using rather than a set of predetermined lines
