Here’s my final for my character design class (2016)! I managed to crank this out in under 2 weeks and I’m pretty happy with it. I was really trying to push shapes and design more in this project and I looked at Okami and Ni No Kuni for reference.
In this thrilling non existent RPG, you play as Grandma Mao (G-Mao) who goes on her first adventure at 87 years old!
A lot my friends are graduating and many are worried about not having a job right out of college. Our animation club (PMC) has brought it in A TON of amazing speakers from all over the industry. They’re all really inspiring and each story is different. I always feel inspired by the ones who got started much later in their life but managed to break in with a lot of hard work. They show that it’s never too late to do what you love (though it might be harder) and I really wanted to capture that with G-Mao.
So what’re you waiting for?
GET OUT THERE!WHY ISN’T THIS REAL! i love it for soooo many different reasons omg..

More random doodles that I shouldn’t be doing.
If I had the brains/time/technical know-how I’d love to make an ib/OFF-style game about a nursery that fell down a rift into hell. Now all the toys/furniture/pictures are inhabited by demons, but they inherited all the memories and emotions of the objects they moved into.
They want to go home.
hey so you know I have a full feature version of SKIP in my brain that I can’t do anything with apart from gradually go insane from holing it up inside my skull
well yeah here’s some old character concept doodles from a sketchbook I accidentally sat on and decided to flip through just now (I just want a single film that contains all the cinematic tropes in existence… all of them…)
I’m amazed at how many people keep sending asks about the full feature SKIP idea, but just to give you a better idea of what I meant by SKIP being ‘an abbreviation of the idea’: I basically took the concept of a love story crossed with jumping through film genres and ran with that, keeping it to the two main characters, Mesi and Arthur.
The atmosphere and morale behind the full feature, however, would be very different. The entire story and set up is different, and the ending… well, I’ll just say the ending isn’t the same either.
These are just a couple of very crappy semi-board/concept doodles that might give you an idea of what it feels like in my head.
Life is hard when you’re a 17 year old ghost with a cleaver through your head.
Marcia, 1927-1944, was bullied at school for the crime of being both intelligent and pretty. The other girls called her Ophelia, after the fact that her hair constantly looked as if it was wet, and would often taunt her to drown herself.
Wow, I wasn’t expecting you guys to like those sketches that much! Well, maybe I should really do this thing.
Still not decided on the dress- depends on whether she got murdered at school or at a party. Not that it matters too much in the film; you don’t see her being killed, but it would affect the character a little. Definitely 1940’s for her anyway, Andrew is a bit more modern; 1990’s-2000’s I think.
