Anonymous asked: Italian anon here I love how positive your are, but I'm so frustrated 'cause I want to love the new show but I keep wondering why the new Ducktales Gladstone is the least Gladstone-looking design I've ever seen but nobody summed it up better than my 8 year old brother (who reads the comics with me) who took one look at the screen, wrinkled his nose and said 'they threw his face away'. And it's like- yeah! they just deleted 75 years of successful design. it makes me sad! how can i feel better?
OOF. Tricky. Well uh, gosh I do have to confess I do understand where you and your brother are coming from. it’s hard to not feel ‘dented’ with that kind of feeling inside, but we have to remember that whatever the new show introduces it doesn’t erase what exists and has existed for nearly 8 decades! the comics are alive and loved and the designs and characters that live in them equally so- the show (like a movie adaptation of a book) is another world that is based on those characters, but isn’t the same. Resentment isn’t progressive- creativity is! Nobody can stop you from drawing and writing material based in your understanding of the world, and nobody is forcing you to watch the new show and/or accept it as the be-all-and-end-all of the Duckverse. Your view and your love of their world is eternally yours; treasure and celebrate it!
