Anonymous asked: ooh, if you're doing a doodle comic with Magica, will it feature Gladstone again? I always liked the stories which show he has some sort of magical leaning- what with the Sign of the Triple Distelfink being a hex, and how he can sort of control his luck like a spell sometimes... I figure those two have more in common than people think

same here! add into that how much he knows about luck and the occult, I mean there are some stories where you half wonder if Gladstone couldn’t qualify as some sort of luck-wizard, but anyway. I’ll see if I have the time to do it in the future but early days here.

Anonymous asked: no pressure to do so, but do you think you'll be making any more duck doodle comics? you have the story style down so well :'D

Maybe! I do have some more ideas- I think if I do another the next would be the one with Magica, I always loved her as a character so I’d love to have a crack at writing her. Anyway, I need the time and energy to commit to another one, and right now I’m trying to get back on my usual schedule so TPoH is taking precedence with that.

Anonymous asked: Your thoughts if any on the Three Caballeros? Specifically after they got those reunion comics a long time ago?

I love them! José Carioca and Panchito Pistoles are such adorable, colourful characters, and yes I love ‘the Three Caballeros Ride Again’ (D 2000-002) especially. I mean, that climax sequence on the train?! Just. Wow.

Anonymous asked: Uncle Mod you are truly frightening; not only have you taken a character who I hated as a kid and made me love and understand him, but you have made me concerned for his adaptation in the reboot to allow other people to have that same understanding. In short you have made me care about a cartoon goose I would have previously been happy to see utterly defamed, what does it feel like to possess that kind of power over people.

ngl anon, it feels pretty darned good

glad I changed your mind about him (but also sorry for giving you standards aahahaha)

Anonymous asked: does Gladstone wear a suit jacket, or a coat? I can't figure it out :O

Not one I know the official answer to, but I think I’ve always seen it as a sort of frock coat, him being a certified fop of the first degree and all.

There’s also the fact that his coat is usually drawn on a par with the length of Scrooge’s coat, and in the new trailer we see Donald in what is definitely a jacket, which is shorter than Scrooge’s coat for sure-

so yes, that’s my guess and interpretation of it! But again, not an official source that’s just how I always read it.

Anonymous asked: Since ducktales!rgb is a jay, would negative be a magpie? Bc same crow family, black and white and violent as heck is just so very magpie

I… hadn’t even thought about that but works for me yay corvids

Anonymous asked: random question, Uncle Mod, if you have a mo'. So Hero's birthday is February 10, making her an Aquarius, and then RGB's is May 21, making him a Taurus-Gemini cusp, yes? Also you killed me with your Gladstone comic it was phenomenal!! :D all your stories are really wonderful and fantastic and beautiful and yes

Yes, and yes! Also thank you buddy you’re makin me blush here aa

Anonymous asked: The series of expressions of gladstone growing up fucking killed me modmad you diabolical wizard of scribbles

can I please put ‘diabolical wizard of scribbles’ on my resume also you’re welcome

Anonymous asked: hey Mod. Hope you're having a good day. I've been following u for a long time and I noticed you latch onto a certain kind of character type. Reigen, Gladstone. That one dude from phoenix Wright u made an alternative ending for. You seem to really like morally grey characters but idk if that's the best term to use? I guess if I were to describe it it would be 'guy with calm passive-aggressive disposition saying cynical things with eyes half closed' Is this a conscious choice of archetype?

Haha, yeah… I guess, I just relate more to characters that aren’t completely bright and shiny? Which is weird because I certainly adore and look up to characters like Wander from WOY like gosh I really do love me a cinnamon bun lemme tell you what, but… I think when I see characters who are openly, obviously flawed and perhaps even a little hate-able I see myself in there much more easily than the more popular and perfect ones. It’s not that I ‘like them better’ necessarily, I just find myself able to understand them very easily. Again, might sound weird; I try hard to be positive and put up a good front, but then I always feel like maybe I try too hard, that maybe that’s annoying and that I’m not as good as I act or try to be. I don’t know how to explain it without sounding crazy but I think it’s a mix of a) finding them more interesting and complex as personalities, and b) intrinsically relating to and empathising with morally grey characters more easily than overtly ‘good’ characters.

Anonymous asked: Hello! I wanted to thank you for your hard work creating awesome comics that keep making my days. Your perseverance and positivity are really uplifting and inspiring! I know that you feel down sometimes, so just imagine all of your fans sitting in front of our screens, cheering you on. (I mean, I'm not the only who does that, right?hahaha..) Just a quick question (out of curiosity, no pressure): Do you plan on releasing TPATJ as a book once it's done? Thanks for everything and keep on rockin'!

oh dude, my dearest dude thank you so much it’s these kinds of things that help me to keep going, even if I am made of elastic bands and pool noodles. I would like to hope that I will release TPatJ as a book, much as I really desperately want to get that second TPoH volume out, but as ever I need to find a publisher who’s willing to distribute the darned things. If I can’t I’ll try self publishing again but it’s all kinda… aargh, y’know? Anyway, thanks buddy I really appreciate the support from all of you, all the time
