Anonymous asked: everything you do is ridden with a sadness I both fear and understand are you British

my secret has been discovered

not quite sure how to break it to you but your destroyer is a tweed-clad neon nerd

Anonymous asked: do you grow anything other than beans and apples?

Yes! Although I defer all powers of horticulture to my amazing multi-talented parents. My contributions are limited to feeble tasks like picking stuff and sometimes watering if they’re away.

Our garden currently grows potatoes, runner beans, red currents, white currents, lettuces (at least those that survive the snail army…), tomatoes, apples, and grapes! Also organic produce is the best because you get to come across rare and fascinating wonders such as the bootygrape;

Anonymous asked: ur really good at drawing, are you at school for art? :o

I was, but I work as a full-time storyboarder these days! Well, for now. I hope I will for a long time yet! I love doing it so much aaa…

Also it seems I have a bunch of new followers- if any of you have any questions you might want to check my FAQ before asking, there’s quite a lot covered there.

Anonymous asked: okay but the more I contemplate the possibility of you /actually/ being permanently possessed by a dream demon made out of pure energy the more plausible it gets I am legitimately concerned

IT MAKES AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF SENSE especially considering I did not sleep at all last night and I still went to the gym this morning

it also explains the constant and inane fits of laughter

Anonymous asked: mod you are like the master of optimism I need advice; I recommended a game to my friend and I really love him and the game is like my fav ever but they really didn't like it? and now I'm sad and confused b/c the one person I would have wanted to enjoy the game was him and now idk if it's even a good game like was I wrong? it's kind of messed me up and I'm sad :C

Gosh anon, I’m sorry, and I’d be lying if i said I didn’t know that exact feeling actually it’s happened to me too- I think we just have to accept that every person has different feelings and we all approach a game with an entirely different set of expectations/perspectives.

That one person didn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean the game is bad! It just means it didn’t gel with their requirements for enjoyment. Sometimes it can come down to personal taste or even what has happened to the person recently- they may even come back to it and play it years later and find it’s something they actually do like, it was just the wrong time for them to play it.

Anyway, chin up, you wanted to bring them joy, and while it might sting that your effort was rebuked you had the courage to try, and that’s wonderful! Trying to make someone happy by introducing them to something you love is a fantastically brave thing! Keep the love of that game in your heart because it’s something that you had a great time with, and I reckon that the people who made that game would be super proud of you for having made the effort to promote it if they knew. The fact that you’re hurting just proves how much both the game and your friend mean to you! How amazing is that?! I think they’re both very lucky to have such a loving person there to appreciate them.

Anonymous asked: Hero is so cute- how do you do it? I love how unique she is too, can you tell me some of her influences?

I’m so glad you feel that way! :D honestly Hero was so important that I spent a huge amount of time thinking about her character and design- RGB came to me much more naturally and practically fully-formed, but it was so critical that Hero was Hero, not just ‘a’ hero.

There are a lot of disparate influences in her, but one of the ideas that came to me first was that she should be simple and toy-like. Her design was highly inspired by teddy-bears and stuffed animals (Winnie the Pooh, Paddington, the Velveteen Rabbit etc.), not only in her attitude but in her movement. She has a tendency to hold her arms very straight, as if they really are stuffed-toy arms, and with her over-sized wellies her gait is similarly clumpy and stiff. When she’s being active, however, like up in the tree, she can demonstrate that she really is like a real animal too. Hero is a scrambling, climbing, curious and generally very creature-like child, and I hope I’ve communicated that so far!

Anonymous asked: I'm thinking about dying my hair blue and I'm wondering if you have any tips for dying/bleaching, since I've never have done something like this before.

okay so bleaching/lightening hair before you dye is always recommended for good colour but there aren’t many tricks to that (apart from not leaving it on for longer than the instructions say I mean it guys don’t do that), but when it comes to dying I’m just going to tell you the one miracle secret my favourite punk/animator/Swedish hair-dying pro told me and really anyone wanting to dye their hair (particularly if it’s with a strong colour) needs to know about this;

vaseline petrolum jelly

it is. the shit.

and you don’t need to go out and buy a vat of the stuff one these little dinky-do’s will manage the job fine for several turns and it’s stupidly simple to use;

before you start dying your hair smear a bit around your hairline, over your ears and round the back of your neck, making sure you don’t get any on your hair, then go about dumping whatever coloured goo you’re using on your lovely locks as usual- don’t go crazy you don’t need an inch-thick layer and it’s greasy as heck so be sure to wash your hands thoroughly and put on those rubber gloves before doing any dying, just use enough so it feels like the skin is properly covered with it, and don’t worry it’ll come off when you wash the dye off if you use enough soap

why? because this stuff will save you from staining your skin and spending the ensuing weeks wondering whether green ears could be the next in-thing this season if you just marketed it right, it’s super easy to do and absolutely worth the effort if you want a neat and tidy colour line that doesn’t look like you tried to dye your hair by sticking your head in a bucket of ink

so yeah, that’s my one tip for being the big rainbow baby you wanna be :|b go have fun kids
