I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream. I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam. Yet I know it’s true, that visions are seldom all they seem… but if I know you, I know what you’ll do: you’ll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream…
Oh no don’t get spooked, it’s a new music video for Cypress Hill! Animated + directed by me, backgrounds by my partner in crime Trugglet, music by Cypress Hill, obviously
Animator/cartoonist/painter Milton Knight (Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Cool World, Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat) is a dear friend of mine and is in desperate need for financial help. Please consider helping him out via his GoFundMe page…
Yup, one and the same. He’s one of my all-time favorites, up there with Ralph Bakshi, Herge and Bill Watterson - It’s absolutely damn infuriating that anyone has to go through this, not even mentioning the fact that the dude’s a pretty big deal. He’s not only what I’d call one of the most significant cartoonists of the early ‘90s for his contributions to Sonic the Hedgehog’s art direction as well as his comics, but also essentially one of the granddaddies of Youtube Poop and all the web culture that implies.
what the fuck, this is heart breaking–milton knight owns, pls support him if you can
I love it when you can pick up an animator’s quirks.
I’ve read in old interviews with Milt Khal’s fellow animators that he did the swaggle to purposefully show off. Moving the head in 3-d space is an exceptionally hard thing to do but Khal upped the level of difficulty to a place many animators wouldn’t go. Not only are they all doing the swaggle you’ll notice they are all TALKING while they are doing it. This is back in the days where you had to use a timing sheet to pace your animation and a head swaggle doesn’t work if its too slow or too fast so he had to figure out the right speed so it looked natural while the character finishes what they have to say while not interfering with the distinct mouth shapes. Not only did Khal do it without any shifting weight problems or timing issues he would often do it while moving the rest of the body. This isn’t his signature move just because he was good at it.This is his signature move because he was one of the only people skilled enough to DO IT AT ALL.
Hey so you folks may or may not know that both my parents are psychiatrists and have always been involved with supporting the research and treatment of conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s- this is something my dad was shown at a conference recently and he asked me to share it with you guys!
This is a short animation by Simon Ball which was funded by Created Out of Mind and the Alzheimer’s Society. It relates the experiences of people with Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), a rare condition which some of you may recognise as the illness that the great author Terry Pratchett was living with until his death in 2015.
More about the film and PCA can be found here! Please consider giving it a look and sharing it with folks (also ignore the 8 minute timestamp it’s really more like 6 minutes, there are a lot of credits)- these conditions are very hard to live with and understand, and this film is a very beautiful and brave attempt to explore, explain and visually interpret the experience.
“We’ve always struggled with finding a quick way of communicating why #TheZoneCast is worth listening to. Hopefully, this trailer for the Balance arc does the trick. Thanks for sharing it with everyone on Earth.”
