I’ve been trying to improve on that and honestly I have found the best way to defeat the ‘urgghhhh ohhh maaaan why are there so many background characterssss’ feeling is to make them look like they have their own story! Like oh hey I wonder where this dude is going, where did they get that bike, how difficult is it to find nicely tailored pants that accommodate a beaver tail etc. etc.
