Update

gallifreyimpalas:

Hi guys, I’m writing this update because I know there are several people on this site that are concerned about me and my safety, and also the safety of my people in Venezuela. Yesterday the military put the city into a siege, and they killed at least five people that we know of, five people who were protesting peacefully. The military is backing up a group of semi-organized crime who have firearms at their disposition. I repeat: the military is not helping the people. They’re killing them. Protests went on until this morning at six, but things have calmed down a bit since then. The city of Tachira has been in thr dark for a day and a half. They cut off their Internet. As you know, the only way that we can be aware of what’s happening in the streets is via Twitter, Facebook and Internet live streams, so this is reason for a lot of concern. The government is shutting us down. There’s only a matter of time until they cut off all internet suppliers in the rest of the country. The mobile networks will collapse. This is no longer a game, it feels like a civil war here. It’s 11 am and things have been quiet, almost too calm. We really don’t know what’s happening anymore. I’m at work, so when I get home and if I do have Internet service, I’ll be online to answer other asks people have sent me. You guy’s support mean the world to me. Thank you again for your concern.

PLEASE READ!!
For years, my country has been violated in truly unfair ways. But now, with our old president (who started it all) dead, and a new, worse one in rule, students in Venezuela are rising and creating a revolution for peace against the corrupt government.
The government has shut down any social networks, so there’s no contact whatsoever. This video explains it even better.

WE NEED YOUR HELP. SPREAD THE WORD. SHARE THIS POST. FOR PEACE. FOR FREEDOM. FOR HUMAN RIGHTS.

ENOUGH BLOOD HAS BEEN SPILLED.
ENOUGH TEARS HAVE BEEN SHED.

Let my country be heard. It’s time this ends.

Shit is going down, basically, and what people are telling you to do to your posts about it is what the government is forcing people to do there. There is a massive shut down on freedom of speech and even a media blackout to prevent large scale awareness of the situation; as of now the only way for the country to tell people what is happening is via the internet, and that might not last forever, which is why I want to keep people aware of the situation. Hundreds of people are peacefully protesting every day and being brutally assaulted and killed on the streets as a consequence. It’s dreadful, and not something we should stay silent about. If you go into the Venezuela tag be warned that there is a lot of blood and violence, but it’s because this is real and wrong and people must know about it. This is really happening, and this really needs to be stopped.

I’m from Venezuela, and today is the Biggest march of the oposition and we fear that many will die today because if it, The media isn’t really showing anything to the exterior of the country-if you live outside of venezuela than go to social medias with #pryforvenezuela or #sosvenezuela- at the moment there is no violence, it is a peacefull protest on the opositions, our side however it will probably turn violent as soon as the police and military furces get involved. The goverment will try to hide and cover it up and recently I’ve herd that there have been some popular bloggers form here killed for reporting and spreding the truth of the situation. So yeah this needs to be stopped and thats what were trying to do, curently our presidents is a uneducated, busdriver who never graduated from High School and is pretty much taking Venezuela to hell quicker than it was going, we kinda need all the help we can get.

Okay I’m going to cut in on this one because it’s not as helpful as it seems. Quite the contrary, it’s full of inaccuracies that dismerit the movement.

First off:

The media isn’t really showing anything to the exterior of the country-if you live outside of venezuela than go to social medias with #pryforvenezuela or #sosvenezuela

#pray

SECOND:

at the moment there is no violence, it is a peacefull protest on the opositions, our side however it will probably turn violent as soon as the police and military furces get involved.

NO.

Our side will not and does not need to turn violent. That’s the point. If you were listening to Leopoldo Lopez today you heard him: on the streets, yes, but peacefully. The other side can do whatever it wants (and has for all its worth).

Here are some posts about it:

No.

Don’t misinform. Misinforming helps chavismo.

FOURTH

So yeah this needs to be stopped and thats what were trying to do, curently our presidents is a uneducated, busdriver who never graduated from High School and is pretty much taking Venezuela to hell quicker than it was going, we kinda need all the help we can get.

NOBODY CARES WHAT MADURO’S BACKGROUND IS. Busdriver or neurosurgeon or TRAINED IN CUBA FOR COMMUNIST IDEOLOGY— Oh wait that latter one is true.

No. The problem is what the Maduro regime and the Chavez regime has done.

- Human Right Violations

- Having the national guard assault students

- Homophobia from congressmen AND Maduro

- Food shortages and rationing

- Wild inflation

- Expropriation of private property

This is not hard to research, or hard to write. But don’t pollute the flow of information

reblogging again for corrections; I can only reblog what I’m being given, and I really want to help, not hurt. I know I am grossly uninformed at the moment, but the more people contribute like this the more I can learn and the more I can help. So thank you very much for this assistance, and I deeply apologize if I was ‘polluting the flow of information’, I only want to help there to be a flow of information.

EN VENEZUELA

martysquirrel:

On Thursday (13/02/2014), CNN’s news anchor Fernando del Rincón interviewed Elías Jaua, Venezuela’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. Many topics were treated in the interview, such as the Government’s view on the several marches and protest going on around the country.

When asked about the students’ who died (both shot), and about the possibility of the Police being involved in the crimes, Jaua roundly denied their participation, claiming the police didn’t have guns or weapons during said protests. Incredibly, the Minister said the students were killed by other students as well, tagging all those who are against the Government as “nazi-fascist.”

During the interview, Fernando del Rincón said CNN had proofs of police forces carrying weapons during the protests, ponting at the students and shooting at them. There were also a lot of pictures showing pellet wounds. Jaua dismissed those pictures, excusing himself because he hadn’t seen them.

After several minutes of the interview, Jaua finally admitted the Police carried weapons (other than tear gas), and only because the protest had turned “violent.”
