I always have people asking if I write a script for TPoH ahead of time and the answer is… sort of. I have this car crash of a ‘gist list’ for the whole story written out, and these are parts that you’ll recognise if you’ve read the comic. As you can see it’s very informal and in fact some of these events happen in a different order from what’s written down here, but that’s because I like to keep the spontaneity of the comic hopping by almost avoiding planning as much as i can. I thumbnail the visuals of each chapter in advance, but I stop when I’ve done the chapter because I know I will keep improving as I go and I don’t want to trap myself with old work, which maybe sounds dumb but hey it’s worked for the past 6-7 years. it also avoids me getting bored/frustrated with not having reached a bit, rather it makes me look forward to reaching it even more! anyway I still can’t draw but I figure this might give you a giggle and a bit of an insight into my very bizarre writing process.
also don’t take all the things written here too seriously/deeply bc I mayyy have changed some concepts around/thought of a better thing between writing this and getting to that actual bit in the story :Tb

welcome aboard, and good spot! there’s a few reasons but the main ‘logic’ reason was, because of that tree-killing quality of copper nails, I thought they would be more likely to end up in the Market, as they would more easily have some imbued thought, memory, and significance in a narrative sense. Killing a tree is a big deal and so I rather liked the ceremonial nature of copper nails, alongside the connotations that brought with using them to attaching wooden horseshoes (part of a dead tree) to his feet in order for him to traverse the desert. Copper also has neat alchemical and spiritual symbolism attached to it and is used in wiring for electrical appliances like TVs so I mean, bonuses all round.

I have my own idea of what all the characters sound like, but you know? I like that everyone else does too! So I don’t want to set anything in stone- if you think Hero sounds like she lives just around the corner from you, that’s probably the best accent I could give her. Having said that, in my head, Hero’s voice is Soft Mancunian, Tailor’s is Parisian, Click has a Nondescript Middleclass Southern/London accent, and Time is, for some reason, Australian.

kind of? I try not to get too very technical about these feverdream style characters but basically the vents work as they would for a regular TV in that they prevent his ‘head’ from overheating. If the vents were totally blocked then he would overheat and short-circuit, but regular earmuffs would be fine bc they prolly wouldn’t completely cover the vents/have fluffyness which would allow Some air movement and anyway they would look cute

Amusingly I never thought of Tinker/Tailor as being a couple when I originally wrote the story and the characters, but I’ve seen a few folks drawing them as one and while I’m not going to write them any different, yeah? Cute. That’s cute. As for Click there’s A Lot going on with that boy but for the record I don’t ship him with anyone. That said y’all’re welcome to ship what you like so long as it doesn’t involve Hero or Assok ‘cause that’d be uh. Bad weird. But like yeah I’m just writing the story man go write your crazy fanfics

it went the exact same but it was just a random crowd person that grabbed him (I think it might have originally been Hobby) but obviously that scene with RGB and Magnus in front of the tunnel before they leave the Black Market didn’t exist- but as it turns out that scene and the whole ‘unspoken relationship’ thing really tied that chapter together so hey I mean, clearly it was what the story wanted me to do and who am I to argue.
