Before you read this page I want you all to understand and appreciate that I studied English Language through seven years of grammar school to A level standard and am a long read and incredibly serious student of the field.

Anonymous asked: do you use a special brush to paint the tree or is it like a weird filter thing?
I wish it was the latter I use the default fuzzy brush with scatter and wet edges applied at a low-ish opacity
and then it’s just lots of layering and varying the amount of spacing/size to make it look more in/out of focus in places, I have come to refer to this as the ‘splutch brush’ in my head :D
I usually do a harder contour sketch first so I know what my key values are going to be, but through trial and error I’ve found that just going pellmell at mixing up the colours like I would with chalk pastels results in the best effect so it all ends up being on the same layer in the end
got to admit I’m kind of liking how the tree is coming along this time
I think I’m finally getting the hang of it :’D

also for those who didn’t know already RGB can skate like a pro and is generally a flexible devil as well as being fleet of heel (referenced from this video which is so good augh figure skating is the best for gestural)

Sadly my Spanish translator has had to cease activity due to personal reasons, but that means if there’s anyone out there who wants to take it up instead the platform is open! Offer taken! We’ll have our Spanish connection back up and running soon :D (also Portuguese link is down right now but it’ll be up again in a little while)
