Anonymous asked: hey so I know I'm going to play professor layton vs phoenix wright at some point but I haven't actually played all the way through any professor layton games and was wondering if there were any you would recommend playing before PLvsPW?
ALL OF THEM actually nah lemme answer this properly because lots of people have asked me the same question on both sides; whether you’ve played all the AA games and none of the PL games or visa versa, I would recommend playing at least the first game in the series of the set that you haven’t. Honestly if you like PL you’re going to love AA, and likewise AA junkies will find no trouble getting addicted to puzzle solving professors and their beautifully animated cutscenes- there’s a reason a crossover happened, and I have to say the two game styles compliment each other enormously in the new adventure.
It isn’t necessary to play any of the (insert unplayed game series here) beforehand by any stretch, so by all means plunge right into the crossover if you want to, but I just feel the experience will be improved so much by developing a love and understanding of the characters before you start playing. The jokes (and injokes) will be much funnier, and the drama will have you jumping up and down on the bed rather than going ‘oh well I guess that is sort of shocking but I don’t feel as emotionally invested in it as I could have done if I knew this character better’.
At the end of the day it’s your choice, but if you want to get the most out of it I would exercise restraint for a little while longer and get to know the new world and cast that you’re going to be walking about and interacting with!
very gradually reclaiming the ability to use my right hand so have some creakily drawn fanart of my favourite ‘extra’ from PL vs PW; Lettie Mailer
I don’t know if she’ll get a different voice for the American release but regardless I adored this character I mean come on just look at her
the only downside was how little limelight she got would definitely have to appear in the theoretical sequel no question :|b
So, a while ago tumblr user modmad entertained the idea of having Professor Layton as a villain, and so me, the ever crazed for unused concept arts, wanted to show something to her. But I can’t submit stuff to her, so she suggested I just post it and send her a link.
Anyway Mod, in the…
I need this book
everyone loves the trope of heroes being stuck in a room that’s steadily filling with water, right? aka more of this idiocy
(well okay obviously Luke and Maya would be able to solve the puzzle from the outside that’s how these things work)
Sequel PL vs PW where Layton gets framed for a murder (which Maya got accused of first because she always does), but he gets bored from the lack of puzzles in jail and breaks out to solve the crime with Pheonix and then comedic manhunt hijinks ensue and it’s stupid and shut up I can dream
on a side note I absolutely did not have the time to do these.
