oh
okay so I may have deduced one of the problems with finding a publisher because oh god I did not think at all about lyrics being copyrighted
also when I wrote this comic I never intended to publish it and therefore profit by it but things have changed oh dear
how do I get the rights to use those ‘this looks familiar’ lyrics without being hung drawn and quartered or will I just have to change them which I can live with but I have no idea what to change them to
do I have to do that with the Dangermouse transcript as well? and the Monty Python quotes? am I going to get in trouble for already self publishing those parts? oh crap oh jeez oh hell oh help someone help me i DON’T WANT TO BE DOING ANYTHING ILLEGAL I DIDN’T MEAN FOR THIS
I found a blog post that you might find useful
Also this
I was kind of hoping that on investigating I’d find out that you’re ok, but It seems like song lyrics might be a problem because they aren’t covered by fair use policy, (although song titles should be fine, as should small quotes from other works of media. Which is great because I got a HUGE kick out of that Danger Mouse quote) You could change them to songs that are in the public domain, which would cover a lot of old standards.
I hope that this is a step towards getting the publisher you need/deserve!
oh, oh I do hope that’s the case, I guess I can change the part with Hero singing to some public domain stuff I mean it’s a shame but hell I don’t want to go to jail mama I’m too young D8 also I’d love to buy the rights but looking at average costs for that stuff is like woah yikes goodbye life savings
I’m sorry guys I’m such a wreck right now this has done a total number on my nerves but yeah if anyone finds out something more about these issues please tell me I don’t want to do the wrong thing by anyone, I really don’t
