My old piano teacher, Roger Shelmerdine, is a great guy and writes songs! He often organises events with choirs, and he very kindly asked if I would illustrate some selected sections of lyrics for a concert (which was held yesterday evening and went very well) for this year’s Remembrance Day and the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI. Apparently the kids from the primary school choir, who did a fantastic job, really liked these, so hopefully you will too!
The last one with the boy and the gun is a song based off a real story about a boy called Sidney who lied about his age and entered the army at the age of 12. I wanted the size of the gun and the hugeness of the hand to sort of describe how obvious it must have been and how eager the adults involved were to overlook it all. Part of the song goes like this-
“An officer am I, and recruitment is my aim,
I’m paid the sum of ‘two and six’ for ev'ry single name.
The more that sign the dotted line, the more that I can earn-
and so I turn a blind eye to every 'age’ concern.”

OKAY SO ABOUT THAT ENAMEL PIN THING there were a few hitches and one big missed connection/email that wasn’t sent when they thought it had been bUT me and the Topatoco folks really truly are working on this. Originally it was going to be a regular RGB but turns out we can’t use more than five colours and his smile alone has that many, so it’s going to be Negative instead! This is still WIP (the eye part especially, which will be silver metal like the other outline parts) but I was wondering which looks better to you- with or without the heartbeat wiggle in the bg? If you could say which in replies that’d be swell!
so I was thinking and a) I want this and b) they would absolutely be best friends but a very specific type of best friends-
practice heads and an old how-do-ducks thing from patreon (drawn over the far superior model sheet of Carl Barks to demonstrate my blob body/limbs technique): these days I almost always do the blobs left handed and the line right handed, but it gets switched up occasionally. I do this random-floating-heads thing once in a while especially if I feel I’ve gotten foggy on forms
Couldn’t not draw Magica and Gladstone as Morticia and Gomez from the Addams family! Only time of the year they can hang out in public and slam all the costume competitions
