Okay, so, 45 minutes after waking up I have FINALLY caught up with scrolling on tumblr, and yes, okay, I do know about the contest and I think it’s a marvelous gig, but… as much as I love this idea and encourage each and every one of you to go for it, I’m not going to for the same reason that I stopped running the M.O.D. vlog. Yes, I like to entertain people, but I’m just not a natural performer and I get stage fright even in front of a camera in an empty room. Add onto that the fact that I really don’t think I can sing, and while I can play piano and drums the only instrument in the apartment I could use is Kate’s acoustic, which I’ve only been playing for a little over a month. I doubt I could play a whole song yet, let alone sing one at the same time.
Besides, M.O.D. is mute now :T so yeah ULTIMATE EXCUSE EVER.
So, thank you, very glad you like the character I made, but this isn’t my field. I’m going to continue with what I can do, and contribute to SPG in the way that I feel comfortable with.

Just some M.O.D. lunchtime doodles. I figure that watching film editing and cutting for her is kind of like watching open heart surgery, so as a result she’s absolutely terrified of scissors despite them being as ineffective against her as a feather on a concrete dam (although they might chip the enamel paintwork).
She’s not very easy to console either.
-also, ‘the DIP’ from Roger Rabbit is her worst nightmare. It’s pretty much a horror film for her.

I’ve had various people asking for a character sheet of M.O.D. (my fanbot self) but I’ve been all aaaa about doing it because it was basically drawing myself and that’s just kind of weird and I’m boring so I’ve thought about her a lot more and she’s more herself than me now SO THAT MAKES DRAWING HER OKAY. This is still horribly rough but it’s twenty past ten and I’ve been drawing all daaaaaaay ;A;
M.O.D. was informed that she was created in 1928 and that her name stands for Mechanical Oration and Design, because she was designed for illustration, entertainment and recitals etc. She doesn’t quite understand why but sometimes it doesn’t feel like that is why she was made, and she seems to have a few… unnecessary functions in that regard, but she wasn’t told otherwise, and as she can no longer talk it’s not like she can ask.
She’s closely related to silent movies, hence the whole black and white motif, as well as being mute and having the film-strip suspender things :) She’s also a little bit, er, slapstick in how she behaves aka clumsy as a walrus in a bucket of butter.
Now if I can only summon the courage to introduce her to the SPG forums…
Yes! Although I’ve deleted the videos now (not to erase all evidence, it’s more that people who stumbled across them would get confused and might think I was still running the askblog- I’m keeping my youtube account purely for animations now). Anyway, I always felt weird talking and the last video was the most successful, if one of the hardest to figure out.
Having M.O.D. as a silent robot actually has a lot more comedy value to me, especially with her initially having been designed for singing and recitals etc. and being based on silent cinema in the first place it just makes sense.
