Dragon’s Lair: The Movie has another chance!

bluedragonkaiser:

Alright listen up Don Bluth and 2D Animation fans! So if you haven’t heard the Dragon’s Lair Movie Kickstarter got cancelled today because of lack of funding. However there’s still another chance for the movie to be made as an email was sent out this morning to backers of the Kickstarter:

image
image

I sort of predicted something like this would happen after watching Nostalgia Critic’s new video about commercials where Don Bluth made a guest appearance. I’m still not sure what that is going to lead to, but that’s besides the point. We have another chance to help make the movie happen but this in fact could be our VERY LAST chance! According to this email Don and Gary are going to do this Indiegogo campaign differently than the Kickstarter in order to reach a wider audience. Whether it’s finally taking to social media or revealing more about the movie, just know that they’re making an effort to make this campaign more effective than the Kickstarter.

In return we as fans need to do the same thing. Contact every animation blog you follow and let them know about this. Tell them to spread the word that Don Bluth is looking to bring 2D hand-drawn animation back to theatres in the form of Dragon’s Lair: The Movie. Do your part on social media and help spread the word. The new Indiegogo campaign launches next Tuesday. Many people on this site say they want hand-drawn animation back but don’t know how expensive it is.

image

Big name companies don’t see hand-drawn animation as profitable as it used to be and that people don’t have an interest for it anymore. Therefore they turn to CGI or Flash instead to save money, but the truth it 2D animation can tell just as good of a story as CGI or Flash can. That’s why many projects that use 2D hand-drawn animation like Lab Zero Games’ video game @indivisiblerpg and James Lopez’s (creator of The Lion King, Princess and the Frog, The Emperor’s New Groove, and Paperman) new film Hullabaloo have to take to crowdfunding to in order to show that people DO still have an interest in 2D hand-drawn animation and are willing to help bring projects that use it to life. Hullabaloo in particular made 588% of its funding goal because people wanted hand-drawn animation to come back.

When the Indigogo campaign launches next Tuesday spread the word like wildfire! We need to show Don Bluth the same love we’ve showed to Hullabaloo and are currently showing to Indivisible. As I said this may be our last chance to get this project made and bring 2D hand-drawn animation back to theatres!

We Happy Few

A game of paranoia and survival, in a drugged-out, dystopian English city in 1964. From the studio that brought you Contrast.

It’s a first-person game, set in a procedurally generated, fully 3D city that you must escape before society collapses around you. But, like any good roguelike, you’re probably going to die a few times before you figure out how it all works.

You will need to learn how to conform and avoid suspicion. You will need to hunt for supplies, and craft the devices and weapons that enable you to make it out of town alive. What do the Wellies approve of you doing? What makes them suspicious? What turns them into a homicidal mob? And is there anyone here who can help you?

Welcome, my friends. It’s another fabulous day in Wellington Wells.

Support the game on Kickstarter!

Wait, isn’t this just another Bioshock? Like practically another clone of Bioshock?

No. This is a rougelike, survival, “stealth in plain sight” game and you don’t get magic powers from taking the drugs, you can overdose and lose your memory– which results in the game generating a completely new map for you. It’s more along the lines of Don’t Starve if anything. Except if Don’t Starve took place in a city where you were trying very hard to blend in with the locals or they’d kill you.

THEY’RE SO CLOSE WITH 9 DAYS LEFT GUYS. THIS GAME LOOKS SO GOOD

YO GUYS HELP THIS MESSED UP GAME BECOME A REALITY

Power Drive 2000 is an amazing sci-fi arcade racer set in a neon filled 80’s vision of the year 2000, complete with an awesome synth wave soundtrack and a ridiculously fast talking car.

Coming to PC and PS4, Power Drive 2000 is steeped in 80’s awesomeness, with classic Outrun-style gameplay, neon and wire-frame filled visuals, and a soundtrack straight out of a Jerry Bruckheimer film.  It nails the atmosphere so well that you could very easily imagine playing it in a dimly lit corner of Flynn’s Arcade (albeit with far better graphics than than they could manage back then).

Strap in and enjoy the ride in this wonderful love letter to 80’s arcade racer, with a soundtrack so radical, gameplay so powerful, and graphics so neony that it will send you back to the (80’s) future.  Highly recommended retro infused racing.

Check Out the Kickstarter & Play The Pre-Alpha Demo, Free

I don’t like to reblog things on this blog, BUT I’m making an exception because I really want this funded and there’s only a couple of days left and they’re so close to the goal!

C’mon, look how cool this is. Play the lil demo and you’ll be like “yeah.”

it would be a crime to not promote something so neon look at this fun thing
