Not that I know of, Anon. I have read, however, that there is a kind of very loose ‘prequel’ to this story, where Gladstone gets a plant as a gift from Grandma Duck, and realizes that caring for it made him happy, hence his interest in gardening grew.
I actually read that prequel, can’t recall the title, but indeed Gladstone gets a plant as a gift. At first he hates the work and the blisters on his hand caused by the work, but as soon as the plant begins to bloom, he begins to enjoy gardening. However, he only does it during the night, because he doesn’t want people to see him work. Gyro catches Gladstone accidentally during a night walk, and he agrees not to tell anyone, such sweet guys..

Not one I know the official answer to, but I think I’ve always seen it as a sort of frock coat, him being a certified fop of the first degree and all.
There’s also the fact that his coat is usually drawn on a par with the length of Scrooge’s coat, and in the new trailer we see Donald in what is definitely a jacket, which is shorter than Scrooge’s coat for sure-
so yes, that’s my guess and interpretation of it! But again, not an official source that’s just how I always read it.
Part two of two! This was a nice break, thanks for being so patient I think my hands will be able to get back to my usual slog from tomorrow but yeah, how ‘bout them ducks hey. Can’t wait for the genuine new Ducktales to throw all these headcanons out the window but y’know, taking advantage of that lead.
