I don’t
exactly know if/where Moby Duck sits in the Duck family tree (saw a
wikia page saying he’s related but? how) but ANYWAY. Pretend
it’s one of these huge family gatherings where you meet relatives
you didn’t even know you had (or he’s a family friend here).
(he’s
telling them pirate stories, obviously)
Kinda
inspired by @modmad‘s wonderful artwork, especially this one :’)
I know I’ve posted/reblogged a tonne today but look at this
i didn’t really try at all. a lot of the songs i just translated into other songs or didn’t bother at all…
ANYWHO…. jose carioca! what a guy! not enough english comics with him in them, though a fun hating mickey mouse takes most of the spotlight in this one, he’s still around hosting the masquerade ball!
(note: this comic was originally in portuguese. i am translating it from french, but you get the main ideas)
I’ve done my first scanlation. This is a parody of the novel Foucault’s Pendulumby Umberto Eco. It’s a difficult book, but it is rewarding enough that it is one of my favourite books of all time. So when I heard of this comic, I became very interested in reading it. And it turned out to pretty good, despite some flaws. To my surprise, it is reasonably faithful to the book.
Also, click on the images to enlarge them, the scans are pretty big.
The plot is that Donald, Fethry and Gladstone create a made-up conspiracy theory and publish it in Scrooge’s newspaper, only to discover that there is more truth to the theory than they think.
I don’t know how many will be interested in this translation. What is the overlap between fans of postmodern literature and Duck comics fans? Sometimes I feel the writer Bruno Sarda wrote this for exactly 2 people: Himself and me.
The scans are from a German 2014 re-print and come from @land-of-birds-and-comics . She pointed a masterpost of german duck scans and I used her links.
I’ve translated this from German into English, so from my third language to my second. You can understand if it is a little shaky at times, especially since I’m entirely new at this scanlation business.
I put in a few references to Monty Python, The Prisoner and Laurel and Hardy that were not in the original text.
There is also a parody of The Name of the Rose, also written by Sarda, which I will try to translate soon.
my half of my art trade with @modmad !! your art and your comics are so fuckin Top Quality..the concepts..the Personality…. and youre such a cool person on top of it wtf THANKS FOR APPROACHING ME ABT THIS IT WAS FUN!!! ILY! GET BETTER SOON !
Part two! Also sorry for sad theory town. Well, not really ‘cause I’ve been living with this headcanon for like most of my life and sharing is caring right??? ahahahahahhsorry
now before you all start yelling at me for still working when I’m busted up THIS WAS LIKE 90% DONE I just had to add the speech bubbles so shush
the deal with Gladstone’s parents is based off this bit of trivia (source) although I still think of Goosetave Gander being his father in keeping with Don Rosa’s widely-accepted-as-canon family tree;
