ah! what a cute story! always fun to see Gladstone getting a change of luck- what a great comic crimble present :D

part two is here / part three is here!

copperblaster asked: Hi! I just wanted to say I'm interested in the world of Disney Ducks too and I was wondering, where do you read your comics? I especially want to finally read the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck! Thanks and take care!

time to wheel out the good ole INTRO/COLLECTION OF DUCK COMICS LINKS POST! Which I never mind doing bc it always ends up introducing some new folks to them! Fair warning, the host site has some gross ads so make sure you’ve got like, any and all ad blocking apps turned on to max but yeah! there’s a whole paragraph in that post with classic recommended reading but as always I suggest starting with the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck and going for a walk through the archives of your own accord after.

Also with the internet making as many dumb decisions as it is doing at the moment this may well be a good time to get reading these, because who knows what’s going to go next. If you’ve been meaning to but haven’t got around to it, no time like the present!

that’s what I’ve been saying oof. also rough translation- (edit: @lifeboatparty and anon gave me some better wording, thank you!)

Dr: Your sense of happiness has been distorted by the excess strokes of luck.

Gladstone: I’m afraid so.

Dr: You have to try to get some joy from other things

Gladstone: What do you mean?

Dr: Giving can bring you happiness, Mr. Gander..

Gladstone: So I should donate things to others?

Dr: Exactly! When you see the joy of the receiver, you will become happy yourself.

Gladstone: Oh… In that case, who am I supposed to gift these gifts to?

Wanted to throw down a Goostave to match Daphne :D I know he’s a lil’ different from Don Rosa’s portrait but I wanted to make him look a little more like Gladstone while still being Very Much A Goose so yeah. Also the next doodle comic is in part me...

Also the next doodle comic is in part me exploring Daphne and Goostave as personalities in their own right so I was exploring the character while drawing this :Tb

Anonymous asked: your duck doodle comics were the first I've ever read, and now I've read almost all of the Uncle Scrooge comics, from Just a Poor Old Man right up to the ones from 2014! I'm super grateful, I haven't had this much fun binging on comics since Sandman. I was wondering, what was the first duck comic you ever read?

oh wow! that’s fantastic, I’m so happy that you found the duck comics (and like them as much as I do, apparently!)- as for your question, it happens to be one that nobody knows the title for, because Barks never gave it one! but it’s often referred to as The Horseradish Treasure. I had no idea there were any disney comics until I found it in the library- and I read it expecting something like the Donald shorts I’d seen on TV, but boy I got a shock! It was so action packed and beautifully drawn, and the characters were so delightfully multifaceted (especially Scrooge) that I was absolutely hooked just from that one story.

a quick Scrooge-the-archivist sketch for Morgann Gicquel as a thank you for making the very excellent and gut-punching documentary The Scrooge Mystery. I love that Don Rosa now has his own ‘comic bin’ and we all know Scrooge has a penchant for cataloguing keepsakes from his lengthy life’s journey so I wanted to sketch something that gave us a look at that (wish I’d had more time to make the random stuff into specific objects referencing the stories but hey we gotta move on and keep drawing those new stories y’know?)

part two! and golly you folks seem to like this fluffy stuff huh :’D thanks for all the kind comments! I’ll do my best to keep improving <3

Daphne Duck (aka Gladstone Gander’s mom!)
I like to imagine that she was this calm, kind, outgoing and joyful person but was also rather dreamy and disorganised- like a cross between Luna Lovegood and Phoebe from F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
