Speaking of great animation
I’ll just leave you this as I run out the door
Oh hey look it’s that short that I love that I met the director of and you should all watch it because it’s awesome and they had so much trouble in getting any of the ideas past the censors.

8O is this gonna be western themed? AHHHHHHHHHH CRAIG!
Okay so with this, Gravity Falls and Motor City, Disney is officially way up in my good books for smart decisions lately.
Now make a goddamn traditionally animated Oswald cartoon so I can go work for you.

Hey remember that Disney Dalmatian sequel where they put Boris in drag and Cruella practices bondage on an innocent artist?

WHAT AM I WATCHING it’s sort of occasionally funny in places though

“Fantasia”, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” 1940
This is an alternate shot to the one eventually used in the piece. In the final film, you see Mickey attack the broom only through the shadows he casts on the wall.

Well this is interesting.
Pretty much the best after-dark walk home in history.
So I met up with Alfred this evening for burgers and general fun talking times, and instead of taking the bus I decided to walk back home over the bridge.
It was quiet, nobody was on the path, the stars were out; it was one of those moments.
I leaned on the wall, looking at how bloody pretty Vancouver is at night, and felt like singing. There was no-one there, so I decided to hell with it. There was one particularly bright star to my left so I decided to sing ’when you wish upon a star’, because I am a cheesy fuck.
I’m singing, and a few lines in I’m aware that someone else is singing along with me.
I keep singing, but I look around to see who; there’s nobody on the bridge anywhere near me. Eventually I notice that a cyclist on the opposite side of the bridge has stopped, and it’s him, and he doesn’t stop either.
So we carry on singing the song and finish it together.
There is a moment of quiet followed by an equally silent celebration by us both punching the air with both hands, then he cycles off down his side of the bridge and I walk off along mine.
Mystery bike man, you will stay in my heart forever.

Alterna-Disney Movie Posters by Rowan Stocks-Moore
Rowan is a technical wizard when it comes to redesigning classic covers to books and films, cutting deep to the core of the film in one simplified image. But his revamped images reflect the darkness inherent in the stories that was glossed over with bright colors and happy little people.

I already reblogged this a long while back but I regret nothing.
Okay, while I’ll admit the actual game play has a few issues that could do with some serious renovation *cough camera cough*…
I am loving Epic Mickey so far.
The whole run-down feel of it and the sheer number of references to the old cartoons is just amazing, not to mention the whole look of the game and the concept art you can unlock. The music is just off-kilter enough to be unsettling and the parody Disney World setting is a wonderful idea. It’s just so melancholy and tragically upbeat- there’s a delightfully horrifying sense of irony to it all, especially the fact that Mickey himself has forgotten all these character who made him as famous as he is today. I don’t know, maybe it’s being such a film and animation geek but I just adore that Disney had the balls to do this with their own history.
Oh, and dismembered animatronic Goofy?
Genius.
