Anonymous asked: just wanted to say that I had a really bad day today, and then I discovered your duck-comics. they really helped me through the day, thinking about them and knowing I could reread them when I came back home. thank you, you made my day so much better

aw man, I’m so glad- they are such good therapy for me too, like, no matter what happens this cast of characters and their universe still exists out there in so many stories and in so many peoples’ hearts

also again, for folks wanting to read the comics and wondering where to start, there’s a big ole links post over here!

Anonymous asked: This is one of those startling effects; you may not be remembered for your beautiful, intricate work of your hard-browed comic, but jumpstarting the new Donald Duck show fandom

you know what I am super okay with that

Anonymous asked: you do realize how frightening it is that you were, single-handedly, able to not only convert a large part of tumblr that had never read duck comics before into Donaldists, but also into die-hard Gladstone fans ?

hey man the reasons to love both were pre-existing I just put them on the table

Anonymous asked: It is entirely possible you have a similar message of mine in your askbox already and I am so sorry if this is the case. I am just sending again to make sure it wasn't my cellphones fault: Do you love Darkwing Duck as well? I have always adored the comics about Donald growing up, but my heart is in St. Canard. And while we are at it, who is the cooler hero: Duck avenger (phantomias in my country) or Darkwing? Thanks for making awesome comics! You rock!

I do! However I am sorry to say I didn’t see the show growing up (both it and Ducktales were on at a time when I was out of the house, shockingly) so I’ve only recently read the comics- which are super fun and I hope I can find time to watch the show at some point! Also I think both Duck Avenger and Darkwing are super cool in different ways, but I’d adore a team-up man that’d be ace.

Anonymous asked: Mod, could you add the fluffy Magicstone "of course, you're Italian" to your duck comic masterpost, please? :D (THEY'RE ALL SO GOOD BUT THE CUTENESS IN THIS ONE KILLS ME)

oh shucks, I was going to leave that until it has an actual story to be a part of but a few of you asked so sure, I’ve added that to the list! :’D

Anonymous asked: Donald didn't realy mean all that stuff he said did he?I know Gladstone is a pain, but to just want him gone like that is so awful.

oh you mean in the fairy comic? nah, I see Donald as being the kind to crack jokes about Gladstone’s misfortune, even in a situation like that, but ultimately he doesn’t hate him so much he’d want him gone forever- sure, they’re rivals, and Gladstone sure doesn’t make Donald’s life easy, but neither one would want the other to get badly hurt. I mean heck, there’s actually quite a few comics where they’re on the same side and wind up getting along!

Anonymous asked: so my uncle is Polish and got me into the duck comics when I was a kid, but I stopped reading them for a bit and you helped me rediscover How Much I love them, and he came to visit so I showed him your comics- and I stg he just sat there reading them all on his tablet, then eventually looked at me and with this deadpan expression said 'I cannot believe I've read these my whole life and never saw how Gladstone and Magica suit each other so well' so yeah freakin good job on that he says hi btw

hello to the both of you and omg (cool if I got you back into the comics though they’re so good man, so good) also please apologise to him for me

Anonymous asked: my doctor just told me I should quit drawing if I want to keep using my hands. She was a terrible doctor, but she succeeded at making me feel terrible... art is all I know how to do. I admire you so much for following your dreams despite setbacks. Im just. How do you do it?

Eesh, well pal this is a hard one to answer because I don’t know your specific circumstances, but I’m really sorry she made you feel terrible whatever the situation is. As for me, I have had to accept that there are certain things I can no longer do/will never do again, but even if I miss those aspects of life I have to be happy with the fact that I was able to experience them when I did and cherish the memories I have. I’ve had to tailor my life according to what I am able to cope with, and will have to continue to do so; living with a condition like EDS is about compromise, and finding smarter ways to do things so that I don’t burn out. This can be as simple as using two hands (and an oven glove) to pick up and pour the kettle, and it can be as complicated as learning to draw with both my hands instead of just my right. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep drawing forever, but I will keep drawing as long as I can, and in order to do that I have to accept when I need to stop, and consider what else I can give up in order to keep drawing- even if that part is very frustrating and a little sad. It’s all give and take, but I want to keep giving, so I’ll do whatever I can to keep doing that (and anyway my brain would probably like, explode if I didn’t get these stories out of my system somehow and it would suck to have to that mess clean up).

Anonymous asked: pfffffhahaha! Mod, you said that wasn't good quality, but I love that recent duck comic o' yours, especially what happened to Gladstone in the end. He got what was coming to him. Most of the time, it's Donald with the unhappy ending, so its nice to see the roles switched.

aw, thanks buddy- I guess I mean the art is like??? idk I tried a different way of drawing and tried to one-shot the lineart and I don’t like it as much as my usual stuff? so yeah gonna go back to the other ‘look’ for the next doodle comic, but hey this is how we learn stuff! I did try hard with the story though so I am glad if you enjoyed it (I also really wanted to make one with Gladstone getting his just desserts, I might love him but that boy gotta learn some lessons) :D

Anonymous asked: I just found and read tPoH the other day, but I have been thinking about it a lot. The art and story and everything about it are sincerely incredible and inspiring. I was just wondering, about how far into the story are we at this point? Still in the first act? In the middle? Gearing up for the end? I just want to be prepared if it's coming to a close.

good news! it’s nowhere near coming to a close

bad news! it’s no wh e re ne ar coming to a c l o s e
