Anonymous asked: Would it be alright if I used a 3D model of RGB that I made and put it in my demo reel? I'll definitely credit you in the end of it...If not, that's ok, it was good practice for the human shape and clothing :)
that would be absolutely fine! :D if you post it on tumblr tag it with TPoH, I try to check that tag once in a while to reblog things to thatdappertellybloke (the fanart blog)
Anonymous asked: Maybe you should talk about the kickstarter more, I think? like mentioning it in passing when you post your art (even if it’s not TpoH related), reblogging that kickstarter post, that sort of stuff? IDK BUT PLEASE PROMOTE YOURSELF IT’S FOR A GOOD CAUSE (good luck, we love you :D)
aw shucks anon thanks I’m bad at this- I don’t want to be a hassle though, and hot diggity dog look! We’re over the 10k mark with 20 days to go! You fellas are amazing, just amazing!
If you have already, maybe tell that friend of yours! Or tell that friend you meant to tell to read this whacky comic to read the comic, and then tell them about it!
Anonymous asked: What if in the new Gladstone episode, his luck had been serving him by being held captive by the demon? Because that was what brought his family to him, and even if he didn't know himself/wouldn't admit it, he probably really missed them a lot
that occurred to me too! I love it when his luck takes a big arcing curve in manipulating his overall situation and places him in the right place at the right time, even/especially if it seems like a bad one for a while!
whatever the case, it’s clear that he hasn’t interacted with the family for a while and has been given a wake-up call of a sort. Again, they played that moment of lucidity for laughs at the end, which is fine, but there’s a lot of genuine emotional character-developing potential there; that isolation has always been a reason why I find Gladstone so compelling and I really hope they utilise it fully.
Anonymous asked: Hey bud your last post is censored (damn you, tumblr!)
urgh. again? okay folks, again- please tell tumblr, when this happens or you see it on one of my posts, that it isn’t nsfw because I promise it never is and I kind of? rely on people being able? to see my art posts? I do the making drawings for a LIVING and making people HAPPY so you know THAT IS KIND OF THE POINT
Anonymous asked: do the Ducktales folks know about your alt design (because I love it and maybe they'd love it and I'm just saying season 2 might allow for some changes) also that lil comic made my week
aaa uuhhhh I’m not sure? like one or two folk off the team follow my twitter but idk if they really look at what I post or like it, but again if you’re thinking of showing them my work please refer to this guide and just. be cool? to them? they’re doing a huge thing and doing it real good and trying real hard so please
Anonymous asked: oh god thank you so much for those redraws, your Gladstone actually looks like Gladstone- also, can I ask why you designed him with that little extra mark/break in his left eyebrow? it looks cool, like an invisible scar! just wondered if there was something more to it
oh shucks, thanks buddy I am so glad you like it (also thanks everyone those tags are sustaining my mortal soul) as for the eyebrow- kind of amazed you picked up on that but yeah! I thought it’d be neat if he had a tiny bit of scar tissue that broke up the eyebrow, but which could just pass as a normal trait
honestly partly it’s because I wanted a little asymmetry to break up the heavy eyebrow/eyeliner combo (I did consider giving him an eyebrow piercing but went for this instead), but with the whole super-unlucky-birthday thing that came from Sign of the Triple Distelfink I kind of liked the idea that there was some physical evidence that Gladstone had been unlucky at some point; especially something plainly visible and yet something that nobody but Gladstone himself would even notice. Where better to put that than on his face?
Anonymous asked: what did you like about the new ducktales episode in particular? is gladstone everything you hoped for?
EVERYTHING uh aahaha wow um no really like, a lot of things- but particularly that they didn’t just make Gladstone into a jerk. You can get the feeling that he really does love his family, wants to be liked by them, and isn’t doing things to antagonise Donald on purpose per say- it’s just how his life and his luck works, and he doesn’t feel the need to apologise for that. I’m really excited to see where they go with him from now- and I know they played it for laughs but that little shot of him at the end, looking so small and isolated and contemplating whether he should go and look into the meaning of his life properly? I think even just that little acknowledgement of potential complexity was a really great touch.
Anonymous asked: I LOVED IT AND I LOVE YOU FOR MAKING ME LOVE GLADSTONE SO I LOVED IT MORE also I still really really prefer your design- will you do any screenshot redraws?
oh gosh, maybe? idk I think the new design is fun I just can’t draw it (also like I thought it did look better in movement than static), I don’t want to hurt the team’s feelings but maybe I will for fun later if you guys want?
on the other hand you’RE WELCOME I’M SO HAPPY YOU PEOPLE LOVE HIM TOO AAAAA
Anonymous asked: okay but DOES anyone from Disney know about your comics it's driving me that they're better than the official comics (can we? tell them? about them?)
haha well, gosh, truth is one of the Italian comic artists and an American comic writer have got in touch with me but we’re pretty much just friends- I talk to them and ask them questions from time to time, I wouldn’t want to overstep that sort of relationship by asking them for more. On the other hand, I am horribly shy and clueless about how to tell such people I exist and wouldn’t mind at all if you would like to tell Disney people about the doodle comics SO LONG AS-
1. you are polite and don’t hassle them about my stuff
2. you are kind about the official comics (which tbh I think are A+ and always always better than mine)
3. if you’re talking to Don Rosa tell him I adore his work and hope his garden’s chilli crop is doing well
4. you’re really sure you want to do that I mean hell that’d be cool I have no idea what I’m doing with these I just really really enjoy making them
