you’re twisting my arm here (and you’re right it’s going to be Long While before it’s finished), but I don’t want to spoil things, so I’ll just give two little samples of Carl Barks which have fed into its inspiration: one, the shading and overall vibe of this panel of Only a Poor Old Man -
And this line of Gladstone’s in A Christmas for Shacktown (he also says it in a couple of other stories like A Financial Fable)

weird! I think tumblr may be goofing- certainly my art doesn’t show up in tags sometimes, but also I think it only shows in the first 5 tags you use? tumblr tags are bad, really. also I am so sorry welcome to this hellsite good luck

gosh, sorry anon I’m not sure! you’d probably have to ask the store about that, I haven’t tried to use it like that myself- if you can’t get an answer I’ll try contacting them but there should be a ‘contact’ option somewhere for things like that? probably better to ask the people who are selling :S

well, it depends what it’s hooked to- if you recall he used it to retrieve hero once (yes, what a shining moment of good child handling that was), so if he hooks something light then the cane still just returns to him, but if it’s hooked to a solid object or something that’s heavier than he is then he goes to it
