Anonymous asked: Are you okay with fanfiction about Mesi and Arthur? I've been getting the feels about them lately and I want to put those emotions into my writing. Is it okay to do so?

it is always okay to do awesome things please write to your heart’s content

Anonymous asked: you should draw RGB in skinny jeans! I mean he's skinny, right?

ahaha actually

Anonymous asked: how did you learn to draw hands?

okay I’ve had a lot of people asking this one and for hand tutorials and, well, I’m not much good at tutorials and I didn’t learn to draw them from a tutorial so it would feel a bit silly to make one tbh but this is the honest to god truth you can ask my mother she was witness to it and thought I was nuts because I spent two weeks over a summer holiday drawing nothing but hands every day

that’s… it

seriously

two weeks of nothing but hands

my parents are both doctors so we had various anatomy/dissection books scattered about the place and I knew I sucked at drawing hands but I wanted to be able to really badly, so I grabbed a bunch and sat and did studies of the skeletal structure, muscles, nerves, you name it. Really bad ones. Over and over and over, and even after that I wasn’t fab at drawing hands by any stretch but it helped me understand what they’re made of and how they work as mechanical objects- I mean god I know about the blood vessels in hands and I’ve never had to use that information practically but hell is it interesting to me.

The next step was just observing people and their hands (including myself, lots of drawings of my own left hand in my sketchbooks lemme tell u), and getting the body language down. You can’t draw a real thing purely from a dissected thing- take George Stubbs, fantastic horse artist, knew the anatomy literally inside out but some of the paintings he did just look kind of… wrong. Why? Because they look like a puppet of a horse that’s been meticulously arranged, that’s why. It is anatomically perfect, but not alive. You have to look at the living thing and how it moves and behaves to be able to draw it as a living thing. One thing I learned was that body language- especially in the world of hands- can be extremely personal as well as universal, so observe as much as you can in as many places as you can!

so yeah sorry it’s a very boring waffling answer but in summary I just kind of sat down and studied hands for a single ungodly length of time and kept going as a habit ever after. There are probably much better saner ways of doing it and I’m by no means an expert at drawing them- I’m still learning all the time! Try to find the way that’s right for you, there’s lots of cool guides out there, but in all honesty you’re only going to learn how to draw something by looking at the real deal and trying to figure out how it works, so go look!

Anonymous asked: Ah, but the real important question remains: Would RGB canonically wear a dress and/or skirt? (same question for Hero)

Of course he would, he just has very particular taste and there might be other complications but we’ll get to that, as for Hero she would but only if it didn’t get in the way of EXPLORING and having FUN because that is important >:|

Anonymous asked: So captivated by RGB! The site takes forever to load though, and sometimes the image itself doesn't load after the page takes a year... Is there anywhere else you post the comics ^_^?

it does? weird, both the sites seem to load fine for me- I post it on both smackjeeves and comic fury so maybe try the one other than you’re using? btw if it’s being posted anywhere else (with the exception of the translations) then it’s not me posting it!

Anonymous asked: if you were going to animation RGB and Hero how would they move? Like are there any other animated characters/actors you think they would move like?

Hm, cool ask! Well RGB can be fairly fluid but also has some stop-start panic to him, so he would probably have a motion style a bit like Miguel from Road to El Dorado mixed up with Basil from the Great Mouse Detective. As for Hero, she’s a funny little beast… She’s generally very calm and toddles about in a wondering, sedate sort of way. She’d probably move a lot like Winnie the Pooh, but when she’s clambering about on trees and such she’s quite animal-like, so there’s probably a bit of Stitch in her movement type too!

Anonymous asked: Just wondering, since I think we're getting to the end of the P.O.V chapter- are we going to be seeing any new characters soon?

We’re getting there- and you will, in the next chapter, yes! :D

guessing you’re the same anon huh ;) they both have brown eyes, but quite different shades- Mesi’s are a lovely warm mahogany colour and Hero’s are very dark, closer to ebony or dark chocolate

(also eeee fanart aa I’m excited ;w;)

Anonymous asked: I plan on (trying to) animate clasically, by hand and such. Is there a type of paper to use for it? Or do you use regular printer paper to do it? Because I am confused and marvelled by hand animators.

CRAP PAPER.

Well okay not *crap* crap paper, but honestly I found that the best paper for animating was the thinner stuff; at school we had the fancy prepunched stuff with the right holes for the peg bar which was awesome, and you could have ‘rough’ or ‘clean’ paper. Rough was more like regular printing paper, clean was very smooth and beautiful to get sharp work down onto it, but didn’t grip the lead so well (I don’t press down hard like some people) and was quite thick. I didn’t use my desk’s backlighting function very much so the slight transparency of the rough sort helped me read the flow of frames a little better, and before that I’d been animating on cheap A4 paper from the super market which was even more transparent! Horrible to manage on the peg bar though, much too small for one.

So yeah man that’s my two cents but you can use pretty much anything, and certainly any sort of paper- that’s why so many animators have made flip books in the past.

Anonymous asked: I knew RGB's current outfit reminded me of something but I just watch Yellow Submarine on tv the other day and suddenly noticed PAUL'S CLOTHES MOD DID YOU

WHOOP WHOOP DING DING CONGRATULATIONS ON BEING THE FIRST PERSON TO GET THAT! Or get it and notify me but whatever.

All of RGB’s outfits have various influences (often from multiple sources), that have been mashed into one outcome to get that ‘haven’t I seen that somewhere before’ look while still being completely their own thing- a sort of unoriginal original, if you will

however I have to say if Paul was the only one who got your attention you may want to look again
