Strange fact number 4. I decided to learn the drums to be inconspicuous.

No. Really. My parents wanted me to pick up a second instrument (first was piano), and I was at a particularly shy stage of my life, but I loved the Beatles and Ringo was always my favourite. Then I thought “hey! The drummer always sits at the back, right? That way nobody will pay attention to me!”

Of course one lesson in I realise that if the drummer screws up EVERYONE ELSE IN THE BAND DOES and EVERYONE IN THE AUDIENCE KNOWS IT WAS YOUR FAULT.

I am the first to admit this was not one of my greatest moments of foresight in my life although I love drumming so it all worked out okay really.
