gjadhgk I kinda dug a hole for myself there didn’t I uh well keeping in mind I am making this up literally as I’m about to hit the hay and am not versed in every comic to have ever been made the rough timeline I have is:
ages 1 to 6: Gladstone lives with his parents in Duckburg. On his 7th birthday Gladstone is electrocuted in front of the reversed triple distelfink and is cursed with bad luck on that day for the ensuing years (until some time in his late 20′s/early 30′s when Donald accidentally undoes it).
age 9: The Very Bad Luck Birthday. After Gladstone’s parents pass away arrangements are made for him to move in with his aunt Matilda who is caretaking Scrooge’s castle in Scotland. He is distant, sulky, and makes no friends due to his bad attitude, good luck, and foreign accent.
age 9.5: in desperation aunt Matilda reaches out to old friend(?) Ludwig Von Drake who is in the area lecturing at universities. After a slightly reluctant start Gladstone latches on to this genteel, confident, educated and well dressed duck as a role model. He is sad when Ludwig has to return to mainland Europe but is at least inspired to ignore what others think about him and gains some interest in reading.
ages 10-12: Between school terms Ludwig takes Gladstone on trips around Europe. The gosling finds a father figure and Ludwig has never found so many rare books or free meal tickets in his life. Gladstone confides in his temporary carer that he misses Duckburg, for all the trauma he experienced there, and they discuss the matter with Matilda.
Age 13: Gladstone travels to America with Ludwig. After a quick (lecture filled) tour of the states on the way to Calisota, Gladstone returns to Duckburg to live with Grandma for the summer with the intention of moving in with her and Gus in order to go to highschool with Donald and his other cousins. Ludwig checks that this is what he wants to do before term starts. Gladstone wants him to stay, and even threatens to wish it to be so, but Ludwig points out that wishes don’t work out nicely for everyone if they’re made selfishly. They part ways in trademark Disney bittersweet fashion, but ever after Gladstone is the first to greet him at the airport arrivals lounge and is the last to say goodbye.
Age 13-17: Gladstone lives with Grandma and Gus. He develops a strong bond with both.
Age 18: Gladstone moves out to study at college. Well, to go to college.
After this I’m not sure! He probably drifts around various places in Calisota, travels, acquires temporary residences that suit him (or don’t) until he ends up winning a house at 777 Easy Street, which is where I imagine him to live today!
