I've been wondering for a long time... how often do you see The Property of Hate compared to The Phantom Tollbooth? Did you actually draw any inspiration from the book, or is the similar motif of abstract concepts given physical form just pure coincidence?

I see it a fair bit, which is amazing and such a compliment, but the honest truth is I’d never heard of the book before I started TPoH, and then someone compared it- and then I read it and felt very silly that I hadn’t read it before, because it’s wonderful! I love it so much and it’s very touching that people find my comic reminds them of it.
