Everything I draw ends up wearing a bow-tie

Give them friends! Those short sentences can be very effective, so don’t be too hard on them, but you have to use them occasionally and in-between longer or mid-length sentences; it’s a bit like music, you mix up short phrases in amongst longer phrases to make them pop. Just like any art really; bright colours only stand out when in juxtaposition with darker or semi-neutral tones, and loud notes stand out after a quiet section of music. Likewise, short sentences can be entirely alarming, chilling, emphatic and dramatic or even downright funny, but only if used after long and florid sentences with too many clauses for their own good.
