honestly I don’t know why there aren’t more fairy-tales with them; wheelchairs are just about as old as human history I mean here check out my personal favourite; King Philip II of Spain’s customised wheelchair complete with ratchet-operated tilting back
there are depictions of wheeled devices for people going back as far as 530 BC (there’s a Greek vase with a picture of a child’s bed with wheels on it from about then, but there are texts about such things in similarly ancient Chinese engravings; the first mention of a chair with wheels is in a Chinese engraving from 525 AD) there’s some pretty interesting stuff in this article if you want further reading
also we have to remember not everything was documented and a lot of these objects would have been made of wood- so they would have rotted down and therefore couldn’t survive to make it into our museums. Such inventions were very probably made as one-offs and will have existed for a long time before when we have recorded evidence of them
