kowabungadoodles asked: Depends who its for and what its going to be used for but good rule of thumb is to take your hourly or daily rate, approximate how long it'll take you, add time for changes, roughs and approval, then add on 10%. So if the art will take you two days, the changed roughs and approvals take you one day then at a day rate of £50 (which is low) you'd be asking for £165.
look at this, look at this perfect person with their perfect answer, I love this person
so one of my old school friends just called me and yelled about this new cartoon she just saw with ‘this adorable fuzzy orange guy who acts and moves just like you do’ and asked if I’ve seen it HOHOHOHOOOHOHO
(psst hey guys how much should I charge for a full sized piece of comic cover art I have no idea)?
Sometimes I get down on myself because the comic isn’t turning out quite right, or I’m not measuring up to where I want to be, or everything just takes a little too long to come together, and it’s very tempting to just say “you know what, I tried”, move on, and leave it at that.
But then I realise:
- all of my most exciting and inspiring new friends are people I’ve met by doing this difficult thing
- all of the accomplishments I’ve been most proud of are the tiny victories that come along this difficult road, that will be invisible in the long run, but which make me happy and proud for myself.
- all of the new skills I’ve developed and new mediums I’ve explored would have passed me by without this reason to dive into them
- in the last few years I’ve learned a language of storytelling that is unlike prose and unlike pure illustration and unlike animation, but has given me new insights into all of them
- every night that I fall into bed tired, I’ve made something that will be real for as long as I am, if not longer
It’s not at all about who I am right now, or what my work was today or yesterday. It’s about the colour and vitality that trying brings to my life. I’m writing it down so I remember. And maybe so you do too.

I’m still not fully caught up with Widdershins but gosh I do love it, particularly Harry and Sid’s dynamic no prizes for guessing which one was drawn left handed
I suspect Harry actually likes listening to his goofy enthusiastic twerbling but as soon as he looks at her she dons the deadpan ‘mm sure’ expression

Dark, Darker, Yet Darker
Gaster’s (Fanmade) Battle Theme! This has practically devoured the past few days of my life, but I hope you guys like it! Leave it to games like Undertale to remind me that I can actually make music.
This gave me chills. It’s so good!
