Dragon’s Lair: The Movie has another chance!

bluedragonkaiser:

Alright listen up Don Bluth and 2D Animation fans! So if you haven’t heard the Dragon’s Lair Movie Kickstarter got cancelled today because of lack of funding. However there’s still another chance for the movie to be made as an email was sent out this morning to backers of the Kickstarter:

I sort of predicted something like this would happen after watching Nostalgia Critic’s new video about commercials where Don Bluth made a guest appearance. I’m still not sure what that is going to lead to, but that’s besides the point. We have another chance to help make the movie happen but this in fact could be our VERY LAST chance! According to this email Don and Gary are going to do this Indiegogo campaign differently than the Kickstarter in order to reach a wider audience. Whether it’s finally taking to social media or revealing more about the movie, just know that they’re making an effort to make this campaign more effective than the Kickstarter.

In return we as fans need to do the same thing. Contact every animation blog you follow and let them know about this. Tell them to spread the word that Don Bluth is looking to bring 2D hand-drawn animation back to theatres in the form of Dragon’s Lair: The Movie. Do your part on social media and help spread the word. The new Indiegogo campaign launches next Tuesday. Many people on this site say they want hand-drawn animation back but don’t know how expensive it is.

Big name companies don’t see hand-drawn animation as profitable as it used to be and that people don’t have an interest for it anymore. Therefore they turn to CGI or Flash instead to save money, but the truth it 2D animation can tell just as good of a story as CGI or Flash can. That’s why many projects that use 2D hand-drawn animation like Lab Zero Games’ video game @indivisiblerpg and James Lopez’s (creator of The Lion King, Princess and the Frog, The Emperor’s New Groove, and Paperman) new film Hullabaloo have to take to crowdfunding to in order to show that people DO still have an interest in 2D hand-drawn animation and are willing to help bring projects that use it to life. Hullabaloo in particular made 588% of its funding goal because people wanted hand-drawn animation to come back.

When the Indigogo campaign launches next Tuesday spread the word like wildfire! We need to show Don Bluth the same love we’ve showed to Hullabaloo and are currently showing to Indivisible. As I said this may be our last chance to get this project made and bring 2D hand-drawn animation back to theatres!

Whoa, your style is so lovely to look at! I really dig the outline you add to the shading, it makes all the shadows look so crisp, especially in the clothing folds! Thank you so much!!  Magnus looks wonderful in your style ;)

anyone who was around at that time can never fully get over this- me included

Anonymous asked: Omg are you ok?? Are to still in the hospital?

nah it was just a check up do not fret all is well (thank you for the concern though that’s really sweet of you :’> )

Anonymous asked: lack of blood -> further cartoon character proof?

no doubt, during foundation year art I used so much Windsor and Newton indian ink teachers said if they ever sent me to hospital they’d tell the doctors that was my blood type

  • nurse: so I'm going to just take your blood sample now
  • me: okay but uh just so you know it's been hard for people to locate a vein on me before, so, sorry about that-
  • nurse: oh pfft it's fine I've been doing this for twenty years how bad can it be
  • nurse 5 minutes later: okay so are you sure you HAVE blood

Anonymous asked: I just tried to read all the word vomit Dial gives TOby on page 200 and I know a bunch of people noticed that the place TOby is watching over is called 'Endless Deep', but does Dial say there's a place called Elastic Valley in there? do we get to see that place?

Yes! And I sure hope so ‘cause if not I’ve died before we got there.

I love Elastic Valley.

Anonymous asked: okay I don't want to diss what you had before but the goop looks so much better pink :Tb also omg IT MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE THAT HERO BITES IT

THERE ARE SO MANY REASONS I AM A TWIT FOR NOT MAKING IT PINK FROM THE START but thank you for validating my feelings bro

In today’s news- Mod gets over her idiotic pride and admits she needed to go back and change some pages! 8′D
So, I honestly don’t know why I changed my mind, but in the first pass of this section the goop sticking to the tree was going to be pink!...

So, I honestly don’t know why I changed my mind, but in the first pass of this section the goop sticking to the tree was going to be pink! Y’know like… gross bubblegum or something… Anyway for whatever reason I changed it to yellow/white at the last minute and I’ve never liked it. I won’t be pulling a George Lucas and remaking loads of pages or anything but, you know what? I was wrong, and I’ve wanted to fix it for a long time so I went ahead and did it.

So… yeah, just altered these few pages, that’s all. Just bringing it up here in case anyone went back to re-read and was like ‘wtf why did it change colour’ and yup the reason is I hecked up but I feel better for changing it.
