i just want to say, for people reblogging this, that this is called the “rule of thirds” and the tips i wrote here by no means are things that you HAVE to do! these are just tips i use for myself, i kind of made up the bubble rule and i dont even know if im using the rule right haha so there theres that! i just like to use it so i know my bubbles have a place to go
examples of me using rule of thirds to separate elements in “Rachael and Penny”
i got the information a long time ago from a thread on penciljack called Storytelling 101, specifically this image
there is tons of information on rule of thirds available, i know eyecager has a post that dips into it ….
This is also hella useful for photography composition, especially for landscape and architecture shots
Anonymous asked: Any tips for someone wanting to learn how to draw with their non-dominate hand?
Do it every day, more than once a day- maybe in bursts of like ten minutes at a time at first, just trying to do simple geometric shapes and letters of the alphabet, numbers, that stuff- another good one is drawing a random set of dots and joining them up (yes! join the dots IS good for you) because what you need to get down is hand-eye coordination on top of fine motor control.
When you’re feeling sassy about it start doing some left handed drawing- anything, just doodling, but don’t expect it to be good! Just have fun with it. I ended up doing it as my warm up for drawing with my right hand, because even though it was my other hand it woke up my brain, and I think I drew much better after the challenge of just trying to get a curve to go in the right direction.
It’s really just a matter of perseverance- I’m not perfect at it yet, but I kind of like what each of my hands can do at this point. My left is more wild and whacky and good at backgrounds and layout, whereas my right is best for smooth lines and controlled volumes. Just keep trying! If someone as notoriously clumsy as me can get this far I’m certain that you can!
Anonymous asked: I. LOVE. YOUR. MOB. The way you draw him is just so cute and squishy 😍 could you please draw a shy flustered Mob? Or a "just woke up" Mob? I dunno something cute? (Whenever you can and if u feel like it) THANKS!!
Anonymous asked: sorry to be a pain but tried submitting some art a while ago? did you get that?
oh gosh! no, I don’t think so? guessing you mean to the fanart blog but I haven’t received one lately, then again there’s been no submissions for a while which is a little unusual, so maybe it’s tumblr goofing up again (it happens occasionally)
loliko-s-madness asked: If rgb is surprised, what color would it be?
ah, I did have some trouble resolving that one, but my solution was that one can be surprised in many ways, it’s more to do with an intensity of agitation- so basically he would emit a lot of that colour, and probably in a burst (it would always involve yellow though, as the closest to the flight/fight reflex I figure that’s always going to be a feature of shock/surprise)
