Anonymous asked: The series of expressions of gladstone growing up fucking killed me modmad you diabolical wizard of scribbles

can I please put ‘diabolical wizard of scribbles’ on my resume also you’re welcome

Anonymous asked: hey Mod. Hope you're having a good day. I've been following u for a long time and I noticed you latch onto a certain kind of character type. Reigen, Gladstone. That one dude from phoenix Wright u made an alternative ending for. You seem to really like morally grey characters but idk if that's the best term to use? I guess if I were to describe it it would be 'guy with calm passive-aggressive disposition saying cynical things with eyes half closed' Is this a conscious choice of archetype?

Haha, yeah… I guess, I just relate more to characters that aren’t completely bright and shiny? Which is weird because I certainly adore and look up to characters like Wander from WOY like gosh I really do love me a cinnamon bun lemme tell you what, but… I think when I see characters who are openly, obviously flawed and perhaps even a little hate-able I see myself in there much more easily than the more popular and perfect ones. It’s not that I ‘like them better’ necessarily, I just find myself able to understand them very easily. Again, might sound weird; I try hard to be positive and put up a good front, but then I always feel like maybe I try too hard, that maybe that’s annoying and that I’m not as good as I act or try to be. I don’t know how to explain it without sounding crazy but I think it’s a mix of a) finding them more interesting and complex as personalities, and b) intrinsically relating to and empathising with morally grey characters more easily than overtly ‘good’ characters.

momijihyuga804 asked: Hey! Your latest comic was really awesome! The difference in style when drawing Gladstone was really interesting and I loved it! I really enjoyed him in your last comic, but the darker expressions in this one really caught my attention and it was very well done! I can't say I remember too much of what I watched of the show as a kid (I can't even remember if Gladstone was in any episodes I saw), but now I'm hoping he appears in the new show and is as interesting as you make him out to be

aw shucks dude thanks, I had a good time making it and yeah I was trying to channel the meaner side of Gladstone in this one (which you know, is always good especially in a morally grey character) I think he was in like one episode of the cartoon? tbh I haven’t watched those for a looooong time and I don’t know if I saw all of them, but yeah I think he got hypnotised by Magica to pull a heist? anyway there’s been some heavy implication that he’ll be in the new show so I’ll be stoked to see what kind of angle they go for on him

Part two of two! This was a nice break, thanks for being so patient I think my hands will be able to get back to my usual slog from tomorrow but yeah, how ‘bout them ducks hey. Can’t wait for the genuine new Ducktales to throw all these headcanons out the window but y’know, taking advantage of that lead.

Anonymous asked: Hello! I wanted to thank you for your hard work creating awesome comics that keep making my days. Your perseverance and positivity are really uplifting and inspiring! I know that you feel down sometimes, so just imagine all of your fans sitting in front of our screens, cheering you on. (I mean, I'm not the only who does that, right?hahaha..) Just a quick question (out of curiosity, no pressure): Do you plan on releasing TPATJ as a book once it's done? Thanks for everything and keep on rockin'!

oh dude, my dearest dude thank you so much it’s these kinds of things that help me to keep going, even if I am made of elastic bands and pool noodles. I would like to hope that I will release TPatJ as a book, much as I really desperately want to get that second TPoH volume out, but as ever I need to find a publisher who’s willing to distribute the darned things. If I can’t I’ll try self publishing again but it’s all kinda… aargh, y’know? Anyway, thanks buddy I really appreciate the support from all of you, all the time

Anonymous asked: Those cherry blossoms are so fluffy and pretty, they make it look like you live in a fairtytale garden! Also, your coat is REALLY cute and has cool designs! Where did you get it?

I kind of do it’s an amazing garden, my parents are magicians, and I got it here! Joe Browns do really great clothes and have free returns in the UK so y’know that’s even more awesome

this was fun! trying to guess what the new Ducktales kids would behave like from the trailer and a more cynical/mean Gladstone from the good ole’ days- might be totally off the mark as to what they’ll turn out like but hey

part one of two! Part two can be read here!

Anonymous asked: Do ring splints help?

they do! you have to make sure they fit though and that can be a right pain in the, well, knuckle- but yeah I have a plastic one which I often use if I’ve got to do a lot of typing that helps quite a lot
