Hey guys! I figured out something minor about the “safe mode” shenanigans that might help

sonocomics:

Okay so, as counter-intuitive as this sounds, if you’re over 18 turn Safe Mode on.

By doing so, you not only can (minorly) help others, but you can (minorly) help yourself.

1. Helping others

Okay, so we all know that posts have been wrongly flagged EVERYWHERE for being “sensitive”. Something that can be done if you’re over 18 is actually telling tumblr that a post has been mislabeled. How do you do that? Well, the first thing to do I mentioned already: turn Safe Mode on. When Safe Mode is off, you won’t be told which posts are “sensitive” or not - including your own flagged posts. However, if you have it on and you’re over 18, you’ll see this:

image

What you want to do is his “View post”. That will let you see the post. The next thing you’ll want to do is to decide if the post is sensitive or not. Obviously Your Mileage May Vary, but if you believe that a post has been mislabeled, scroll to the bottom of the post and you’ll see this:

image

Click Yup/Nope depending on the post. Hopefully this will actually DO something, but I honestly don’t know at this point. However, it’s the closest thing I can find to actually combating these mislabels, so might as well try it.

2. Helping yourself

Now this I seriously cannot believe is not shown to you if you don’t have Safe Mode on. If your own posts are flagged, you’ll have to have it on to see. When you have it on, you’ll see this:

image

You’ll want to hit Request review to automatically send an email to staff to review your post. Hopefully if enough people send in reviews or say that posts have been mislabeled then tumblr might do something about this.

Though obviously none of this is guaranteed to work, but this is the “system” they have for the mode >_>;;;

Long story short, all of us that are over 18 can put on our attorney badges & start defending some innocent posts :x

EDIT: I just found this for posts as well:

click that “NSFW” button and it’ll lead to another Request Review screen

Anonymous asked: yo your lastest post is marked as adult content and i cant see it, was it a mess up or is it?

well I mean I guess if cartoon ducks are considered adult content now (aka. yes it is a mess up and no, it’s not, it’s really not)

also does anyone know how to tell tumblr to lay off with that bc I got no dang idea

Anonymous asked: Hey idk why, but your duck drawing tutorial got safemode blocked by tumblr...

r u serious tumblr what are you

Sorry friend I am a bit rushed on being able to make tutorials (and on the whole I save them for my Patreon)- but here’s some reference I’ve used and some step by steps? Finding good character model sheets online is a lifesaver and helps you understand how to ‘build’ the ducks in a way that feels tangible. For some poses everything sort of happens all at once, but with some more complicated ones I find I have to really break down the body into shapes and lay the details and cloth on top of it. Always try to keep the energy of the sketch though, and think about your line of action! As for beaks hell I don’t even know I’m still having trouble with them =__=
