yes, sadly I’ve been hit by that too- I, amongst most Patreon folks, do not agree with these changes and have submitted my opinion to the site’s operators expressing as much (which I heartily recommend you do too, if you use it!) and I’ve signed the change.org petition to remove the feature.
I don’t want to put too much panic in the system, but really Patreon is the only way I’ve been staying afloat and creating my content for as long as I have; if things go too badly pear shaped I don’t know how much longer I’ll be able to keep doing what I do. I have the kickstarter sales to hold me up a while, but I barely make minimum wage and the monthly payments from patreon are really a vital part of my income- losing that would be a massive kick in the teeth. There may be other services that I can employ in replacement of it, but… yeah. Oof.
Outside of that all I can do is say please look after yourselves first and foremost- if you need to lower or drop your pledge, I completely understand, but I would advise against a full blown creator exodus from the site before we know exactly what is happening. If we can persuade Patreon en masse that this is ridiculously bad decision that will impact negatively on their income as a company, as well as the income of all the creators they are supposed to be a support system for, hopefully they will change things back to how they used to be and bloody well ask us about making these kindsa decisions in the future I mean really man…
Anonymous asked: Hey Mod fyi the public comment thing for net neutrality ended this summer. Now our options are emailing the pricks in charge of the FCC and contacting our congresspeople and senators and telling them to get Ajit Pai to stop. There's also protests happening today (12/7) at Verizon stores! The vote for this nonsense is 12/14 so we're getting close to seeing if anybody listens to citizens or not.
oh dang, thanks for the update! you heard the anon folks, let’s get cracking!
lunaofthesky asked: I just wanted to tell you that your duck comics bring me honest joy. I can't help but smile and love them, your art is perfect and the stories are so sweet and interesting! ♡
aaaa thank you :’D I am so glad! also thanks everyone else who sends in messages like this I promise I read them, I’m just bad at replying to everything but I really appreciate it!
mythicbox asked: Hey Mod, how are you finding FATE? I'm thinking about DM-ing a one off using it, but I don't really know much about how it actually plays??? I feel the perspective of someone who has actually played it would be helpful. XD
it’s good! we’re all newcomers to the system too- our DM has done a lot of DnD, I’ve played some RP and DnD type games, and my sister has never played before, but we’ve all got to grips with the system fairly quickly and while it gives enough structure for a game it’s very flexible in terms of world building. Having said that we’ve only had two game sessions so far, but they both went well and it’s pretty intuitive to use!
CONGRATULATIONS, everybody! We only have 10 days to fight the FCC & the repeal of #NetNeutrality!
Thanks to John Oliver there’s a SUPER easy way to do this
Do you enjoy Netflix? Do you find yourself spending too much time on FB? If net neutrality goes away, our Internet bills go up and we give power to companies like Comcast and Spectrum.
Here’s what you can do - takes less than a minute:
1. Go to gofccyourself.com
(the shortcut John Oliver made to the hard-to-find FCC comment page)
2. Click on the 17-108 link (Restoring Internet Freedom)
2. Click on “express”
3. Be sure to hit “ENTER” after you put in your name & info so it registers.
4. In the comment section write, “I strongly support net neutrality backed by Title 2 oversight of ISPs.”
5. Click to submit, done. - Make sure you hit submit at the end!
