Anonymous asked: Uncle Mod! I know you love The Adventure Zone, and I was wondering if you've ever listened to/watched Critical Role? I think you'd really like the story and character building in their new DnD campaign. Bisous!

hilariously I am about to start listening/watching it right now! what excellent timing :D

Yep, they got me this morning. Check your settings, everyone.

Please check it off because it is a flawed system that blurs or censors images that aren’t even NSFW.

I had an image that just mentioned “Adult Cool” from Monster Factory be censored for me. Who knows what they consider blocking out!

Forced Safe Mode just went live. Go into your account settings to check for the changes.

Here’s how to turn it off:

iOS:

  • Leave the Tumblr app for a sec and go to the main Settings app on your device.
  • Scroll down and tap “Tumblr.”
  • Look for “Safe Mode” and adjust the settings to match your comfort level.

Android:

  • Go to settings: Tap the little person in the tab bar, then the gear icon in the top right, then “General settings.”
  • Tap “Filtering,” then
  • Flip the Safe Mode switch on.

Web:

  • Go to settings: Click the little fella in the top bar, then click settings.
  • Scroll to “Filtering,” and click the Safe Mode switch on.

It was on for me, so go check it off.

If you use both, you’ll probably have to turn it off separately for web AND mobile.

I told Miyazaki I love the “gratuitous motion” in his films; instead of every movement being dictated by the story, sometimes people will just sit for a moment, or they will sigh, or look in a running stream, or do something extra, not to advance the story but only to give the sense of time and place and who they are.

“We have a word for that in Japanese,” he said. “It’s called ma. Emptiness. It’s there intentionally.”

Is that like the “pillow words” that separate phrases in Japanese poetry?

“I don’t think it’s like the pillow word.” He clapped his hands three or four times. “The time in between my clapping is ma. If you just have non-stop action with no breathing space at all, it’s just busyness. But if you take a moment, then the tension building in the film can grow into a wider dimension. If you just have constant tension at 80 degrees all the time you just get numb.

I love this. I think the pause is the most overlooked part of any art- whether it’s visual space, a hold on a phrase of music or dance, space between words and action in scene, or that breath-held beat in a paragraph or line of dialogue.

Early performance test of Shadow Dan from Me and My Shadow.

Jakob Jensen provided some amazing live action reference for this which helped me out a lot.

Anonymous asked: Sorry to bother you, but I keep seeing people talk about story codes for the ducks comics and I was curious, how exactly do those work? Whenever there's a popular screenshot posted of a ducks comic, people are always asking for the story code. What is that? Does it get you the comic? How? Is there a website you're supposed to enter it? I tried googling it, but I couldn't find anything. I've seen you talk about them sometimes though, so I was hoping maybe you could explain?

no problem! those codes are very useful in finding the stories, especially if you’re savvy with the marvel that is I.N.D.U.C.K.S.! That there link’s a quick run down of it and how to use it, and for that anon who wanted to know where to read the original comics here’s my post for that- (also if you lose it just search my blog for ‘links’ and it should pop right up). Combining those two sites = you can find most stories that have been translated into English and published by the US!

Anonymous asked: you don't need to draw it but thanks to that anon I now just have this mental image of Gladstone ending up getting piggy backs whenever it's raining bc *insert adult duckverse character here* doesn't want to get wet and he's too small for them to shelter under an arm like that and they know he doesn't mind so it's like a double luck win for him bc rain + free ride (+platonic physical interaction 'cause the boy is touch starved af???)

I know I didn’t had to but I felt like doing some quick and simple doodles at least. Decided to use Scrooge because I needed to draw him and Glad together at least once. Yikes, these whole ducks+rain stuffs are getting out of control agsdfhg. Also… you said he was touch starved? Because oh gosh, be sure I am. I’m that kind of person who needs a lot of hugs but I hardly ever get them.

now see I have to put my hands up and confess I was the anon because THIS IS WONDERFUL AND SORRY FOR MAKING YOU DRAW EVEN MORE GOOD STUFF but I’m also not sorry at all

also dude if we ever meet up I am gonna hug you. so much.
