Anonymous asked: So I think I might be bi? But if I am it changes almost nothing about my life because I am happily and monogamously married. But if it doesn't really matter, why do I have so many feelings about it???? Anyways, I am asking you because it seems like there is a 50/50 chance of a delightful and pithy answer or a picture of a bird as an answer.

I love how yokai range from “You smiled at me a little bit so now I will kill you with my razor-sharp hair.” to “Hey man, heard you were feeling down on yourself again so I thought I’d drop by and do a funny little dance.”

Anonymous asked: Howdy! It appears you've got an adequate duck education, so I wanted to know if you had an opinion on Abner Duck? In Don Rosa's family tree he's Fethry's brother, was used in a single Barks' comic, and appears here and there in European comics (from what I was able to gather). I'd like to read your thoughts on him (if you have any) if you didn't mind!

a scruffy rough rowdy boy. probably secretly really loves butterflies. saved a kitten from a tree once by chopping it down with his beak. grubby man who Grandma has to to tell to wash his hands before every damn meal even though he’s over thirty. makes really good pancakes.

objectheadzine:

The theme of the fifth Object Head Zine is “SUPERSTITION” or simply Good luck/Bad luck

Show us your tidbits of folktales, little stories you believed in that would change your luck, or your favourite local urban legends. As with the 3rd edition, this can be a little flexible - you can draw either object heads relating to folklore items, good luck/bad luck items or have them put into superstitious/folklore situations! It can be either scary or cutesy or even a mix of both! You may include monsters, but please keep object heads the focus of your piece.

This book will feature 45 people I’ve selected, plus 25 open slots available to the public for a total of 70 participants! This year’s zine is a PAID OPPORTUNITY of $100 CAD (approx. $80 USD) per page. Participants will be paid as soon as they complete their piece (give or take a week for paypal to transfer funds). There will be a preorder sale to cover the costs of printing and shipping.

The 45 pre-selected participants are:

Potentialforart | This is Hannako | Rachel Stolberg | MannyAndys | Rezllen/Robin Crew | Corviday | Modmad | Nighto | Haley/Ivan Kasof | Aaron Alexovich  | Miru/Inktrashing | Cacoethic & Lenalis | 2-ee | ArticBleu | Kimberly Wang | Bri R. | Amelia Carmela Zuccaro | Shibara | Francis M | John Gorillaprutt | Lye Lawrence | Emily Gossmann | Angelo W | Louise Kay Uy (Kalkie) | Coey Kuhn | Britney Brent | Vee (Cassandra) | Holeyness | Kiana McMillian | TigerToony Taylor Robin | Naomi Romero | RadJinja (Cathy A.) | Evan Dahm | Paige McIntosh (Hobermen) | Tess Stone  |  Crypto Cosmicloak  | ENDO | Verface | ElliEspy | MerriMonster | Kaley Bales | Fenris Lansing | Slitherbot

The guidelines are as follows:

  • Illustration-quality works in either digital or traditional mediums. Both colour and b/w acceptable; background required. *BG can be as simple as a pattern or colour block!
  • 6”x9”, 300 DPI illustrations with a 1/8th inch bleed (FINAL DIMENSIONS SHOULD BE 6.25” x 9.25”) Works must be in CMYK, a template will be provided via email if you are selected. Works will be in a vertical format only.
  • 15 slots are open for a 1-4 page comic. A separate portfolio of your comic works must be sent in for consideration.
  • At least one (1) work in progress picture should be sent in with your final illustration/comic.
  • For consistency’s sake, keep faces to a minimum (You can have eye(s) or you can have mouth(s) but don’t have both in a humanoid arrangement.)
  • Original characters only (yours or your friends’).
  • You can include humans/monsters as long as there’s a 1:1 object head to human/monster ratio.
  • This book is for all ages. PG-13 content at the most! Cartoon violence and blood are acceptable, but realistic gore is NOT. Use your common sense. If you’re unsure, run the idea by me.
  • Completed illustrations/comics must be sent as a flattened psd or tiff file.

To apply, please submit:

  • Examples of your work (art blog/tag, homepage, etc). If you wish to submit a comic, please provide examples of your comic work as well. Object heads are not required in your portfolio but always welcome.
  • The name you want to be credited with
  • The website you want to be linked on the credits page
  • The email you want to be displayed on the credits page (optional)
  • If you have an idea of what superstitious concept you want to portray, feel free to describe it in a few sentences as well. This is Not Essential, however.

There are only 15 slots for comics available due to page count space so if you apply for a comic space, and you are selected, you may not be picked for comics but instead illustration!

Please send this information to objectheadzine (at) hotmail (dot) com, plus any questions you may have about the zine. I’ll do my best to reply promptly. If you haven’t received a response from me regarding your application in a few days, please send it again. There are a few essential questions answered over at the FAQ. There is also a twitter account for the zine for frequent updates and WIPs of the book! For more constant feedback/information, feel free to join the Object head Zine Discord chat.

Applications are due May 2nd, 2018, 11:59 PM, PST.
