belphegor1982 asked: No lie, I thought "Give me land! Lots of land!" was a shoutout to the song "Don't Fence Me In" (which I love, btw) :P
I’m not sure it isn’t! Barks did sneak in gags like that a lot, so it wouldn’t surprise me!

Anonymous asked: Can you explain the phrase "Ye cats and little kittens"? I've seen it in your duck comics before, but I don't think I know what it means...
it’s just one of the little cute expressions that scrooge/the ducks use in some of the comics! very often it’s just ‘ye cats’, but sometimes its the full phrase

it’s a bit like Tintin’s famous “Great Snakes!” exclamation of surprise- they don’t really mean anything specific, but they’re quaint and rather catchy. Two other famous phrases are ‘oh me, oh my!’ and ‘oh my stars and little comets!’, which are reused by the duck comics even now! it’s just a nice little nod to Scrooge’s origins and Carl Barks’ way of writing the character- like a verbal signature.

hey are you all reading this webcomic btw because you should all be reading this webcomic here’s the first page of this very nice webcomic
Anonymous asked: Hiya! I’ve recently started reading TPoH (its amazing omg I love it so much) and I was wondering if you have an update schedule? This isn’t trying to rush you of course!!! Ik these things take a long time, please take you time! But I just want to be ready for when the next update is up. If you don’t have a regular schedule that’s perfectly fine! I understand. Your art is totally amazing tho really, I love it. Thank you!
hi new reader friend! I update once a week on Sundays- sorry it’s slow, it’s just how I can keep making it regularly rn! but I am really glad you like it and I will try my best to improve :D

while reading through the barks archive i screencapped every non-standard duck outfit for reasons that are frankly beyond me and now i have all this data and no possible use for it? here’s some favourites, i guess. ducks are cute.
you’ll notice that most of the duck family’s costume changes are situational - befitting the weather or their job or some special occasion - while scrooge went through a lot of outfits before settling on his standard one - the transition from gowns worn by old men who just want to be comfortable to jackets worn in the streets matches his character evolution - while gladstone is the only main character to regularly change his clothes and colour scheme for no reason other than fa-fa-fa-fashion.
Gladstone probably doesn’t even wash his clothes he just throws them out after wearing them once.
this is the worst true thing anyone has ever said on any of my posts.

Kinda felt like making my own Magica? Her dress is made of shadowy stuff, so she can change its form at will. She can also shapeshift back into her shadow form anytime she wants! Actually just shapeshift into whatever she wants.

SON OF A this is what happens when you flip a drawing to make sure it’s balanced and then forget that you flipped it

Anonymous asked: Sorry to ask at this hour but I'm watch Turner Classic Movies with my baby bro and this just came on and I have to make sure, was TPOH inspired by any form of the Phantom toll-booth? The word market in the movie reminds me of the market, and much of the geography and tone match, although that might also be a given of the story type, and altogether Milo and Tock remind me very much of Hero and RGB
see normally when your work gets a comparison to a thing you’ve never heard of before you feel jaded and start to resent it, but the Phantom Tollbooth is one of these magical things where someone made that link very early, I went and saw it and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I’d never heard of it before writing TPoH, and even after that I only saw the movie and then someone pointed out there was a book and I read it and IT WAS EVEN BETTER. So yeah! It wasn’t an influence when I came up with the story, but I guess it is now because it’s in my brain?
