good question! I don’t really subscribe to horoscopes, but I think in the duck comics they’re kind of accepted as a sub-branch of magic (and Gladstone has successful read his accurately in canon stories) so it probably sticks. I think while they have the same Sun sign (Leo), they would have two different Moon signs- if we take Gladstone’s year to be 1947 (the year we believe he was invented, if not first published) his moon sign would also be Leo, which fits with the centre-of-attention needs-to-be-loved showoff type that he is. If we guess that Daphne was in her twenties when he was hatched I would guess her moon sign would be Libra (eg. 1923), which is all about balance and communication. Alternatively she could be a Pisces (1927), which fits the kind of loopy dreamy easy-going vibe we get from the fragments of story she has…

while we’re here though I have this headcanon that Daphne and Goostave fell in love because he was this solid, dependable, funny-because-he’s-so-serious kind of guy with a repressed sense of humour and strict upbringing, and she’s this floaty charming giggly fun dreamer brought up by the best most open minded mom ever (aka Grandma Duck) and they found they balanced out and gave each other the stability/freedom match they needed.

well, my whole reasoning with the appearance of Nothing being as it is is that there is “No Thing”- aka, no single thing. I’ve always had difficulty with environments where there’s a lot happening. I have hyperacuity, though I didn’t know it for a very long time, so I often get overwhelmed and all my senses- particularly my hearing- go into overdrive. My parents say when I was a kid if something happened that I didn’t like (like a bad noise or if there was a party and a lot of people were around) I would just up and take myself off to the very farthest part of the house- as far away from the ‘it’ as possible, and stay there, not doing anything. While I was thinking about the concept of the Nothing it was very difficult because, I mean, how do you draw ‘nothing’? It’s nothing! And eventually I ended up thinking more about the feeling of it I wanted, and then pulling the word around I was suddenly like hey, what about, instead of an absence of stuff like the ‘—–’ (because Nothing is different from that trust me) what if nothing is actually just everything happening at the same time, because there is no time. There is no space. There’s just, nothing, so it’s absolutely everything ever happening at once in a big discordant mass heaving around- because there’s so much, there’s no barriers, there’s no middles no endings or beginnings, there’s not even the bit that joins things up whatever that is. It’s basically that thing that I would take myself as far away as possible from, and stay still, so that I wasn’t it.

dang I can never remember, uh, well it was partway through the year after I graduated from VFS so… partway through 2012? I think??? yikes. that’s a long time huh. Hilariously the whole story hit me like a bad/good fever dream I literally doodled RGB as part of a Persona meme (no, really, folks who’ve followed me long enough know this is true) and then the following 3 days I was like, subjected to this tsunami of ideas while the whole story kinda wrote itself??? and I just had to sit there like 8U okay wow this is happening. My roomie thought I was sick lmao anyway, that’s the gist of how it happened! Obviously I refined it after that initial surge and I keep doing that- joining up parts that were written in a fugue state and tidying up things, but very alarmingly often the story does that of its own accord? It has been and continues to be the most organic and spontaneous piece of writing I’ve ever done, and when I say the story is in charge of itself not me I probably sound bonkers but it’s absolutely true. I am doing my best to do it justice and listen to the characters and the world and represent it all without getting in the way too much!
